That is weird. He has a tribe offer posted from almost 4 months ago. And a commitment post from a couple months back. Wasn't aware there was an offer and an official offer. Especially after there is already an accepting of the offer. Not sure what it all means

Perhaps some of these offers and commitments were made before the athlete was actually admitted to the school. Maybe Yip was cleared by admissions and made the offer official, and perhaps David Roulley was not.

Roulley had a 3.9 GPA and 1170 SAT from a Virginia public school so he definitely meets academic requirements. I've heard of kids from Alabama and Louisiana not meeting academic standards because those states have no foreign language requirement but all public schools in VA cover the basics.

I was just spit balling on for whatever reason these commitments don't seem to mean anything. Roulley seems sound academically. Yip was offered, committed, and is now offered again? Did we pull the original offer behind the scenes? Then we have Roulley who was offered, committed, and a couple weeks later has deleted all Twitter mentions of the commit and is being followed by other coaching staff's. Whether mutual, or from either side, the offer was backed out on.

I think Charlie Woolum's comments summed up the circus that is recruiting high school kids and keeping them in the fold for 4 years when he retired.

With the changes that have taken place since then, it has not gotten easier.

And before someone comments, I do know that was basketball and this is football. Dealing with 17-23 year olds seems to be somewhat similar across the collegiate revenue sports.

There is a date every fall when schools can send out official offer letters. Until then it is just a bunch of words.
I believe that date this year was Aug 1.

Jordan Bly, son of former NFL player Dre Bly, committed to ODU. Held a Tribe offer.

WR Jesse Campbell picked up an offer from Holy Cross

We offered him. 3* RB.

IMO, very smart move...


RB Anthony Turner (@ajturnner) - who earned 1st Team All-Region 3A and 2nd Team All-State honors last year at Phoebus - has informed me he will be transferring to Life Christian Academy and re-classifying as a 2022 prospect.

Sure they will. But now we can get basketball (or baseball, or soccer, etc) players that get recruited over at P5 schools but can still play, like AVV, except they don't have to wait a year.

This makes the schools commit to the players as much as the players had committed to the schools.
