RE: Total Revenues FBS 2022-2023 EADA
Since there is still a realignment question at the bottom of the FBS conference revenue rankings, with both conferences having an odd number of members, I had a look at the two under their presently slated 2025/26 membership.
"New" CUSA:
Liberty....................$62,539,066
Delaware*.....................$44,957,890
Florida International....$41,445,861
New Mexico State......$35,828,331
Middle Tennessee.........$35,578,198
Kennesaw State*........$30,783,810
Texas-El Paso..............$30,697,874
Louisiana Tech.............$27,808,448
Western Kentucky........$25,400,653
Sam Houston State*..........$22,484,292
Jacksonville State*......$22,159,540
[Q1/Median/Q3] = $26.6m/$30.8m/$38.6.0m
SIQ Deviation = 39%
Range Deviation = 131%

"New" MAC (much easier to put together):
UMASS....................$47,604,239
Western Michigan.......$40,804,290
Miami.......................$39,126,336
Central Michigan........$35,740,895
Eastern Michigan........$35,555,897
Toledo.......................$34,919,422
Kent State.................$33,308,164
Buffalo......................$30,478,190
Bowling Green............$30,310,123
Ohio..........................$30,138,630
Ball State...................$28,979,328
Akron........................$28,265,821
Northern Illinois..........$24,692,669
[Q1/Median/Q3]= $29.6m/$33.3m/$37.4m
SIQ Deviation = 23%
Range Deviation = 68.8%
Both are top heavy, with a substantial gap between #1 and #2, though CUSA is in general more spread out and the MAC in general more compact, with the range gap 131% of the CUSA median and the 68.8% of the MAC median, and the semi-interquartile gap 39% of the CUSA median and 23% of the MAC median.
The numbers also suggest that the most "natural" move for the MAC to return to an even number of full members is Illinois State, which would slot in with a group of 5 MAC schools within $2m of its budget, on the borderline between Q1 and Q3, while a Missouri State move to CUSA is more aspirational, as it would slot into the last quartile with a substantial gap between it and Q2.
