Again, he was at Michigan one year less than Penny has been at Memphis. In those 5 years, he has a Sweet 16 & an Elite 8… yet he was a disaster? Penny has 1 NCAA win and isn’t?

You honestly think the Memphis program right now is a disaster?
It was on the comeback trail until this past season

I tend to agree. I 100% agree this season was a major disappointment and honestly unacceptable but I wouldn't say the program is at a "disaster" level, yet.

If he struggles on recruiting trail this offseason and next year is not a marked improvement then I think at that point you've slipped into danger mode.
The disaster was the last two years of Pastner and the two years of Tubby. 4 straight seasons with no ncaa

FYI Brad Martin is who got Laurie to donate NOT RC. I’m not as big of a RC hater as most on here but Laurie blamed him for Finch when in reality that was all Lane Rawlins

WOW you are lacking in the area of reading comprehension.

Do you purposely ignore what is actually posted and see only what you want to see?

NEVER said or insinuated in any way shape or form that RC got the Lauries to donate to the school.

Just stated that the Lauries never donated anything in the past.

Even though too many make the claim that the firing of Finch was the reason.

They never donated to the school before the firing of Finch.

If Brad Martin wasn't a personal friend they likely still wouldn't be donating today.

So the Lauries shouldn't be a factor when it comes to any decision on Penny's future.

Soooo in an era of the have and have-nots getting farther apart Memphis, most definitely a have-not, should alienate not only our two richest alumni but two of the richest mofos in this country because why Dirt Track? I'm sure you're open to help cover the loss when they deuce out? Maybe raise your donation 100% which would make it what, a full $1?

They graduated 50 years ago and except for a very brief period where Brad Martin was in control they never donated a dime.

So we cater to them forever because of a one time donation.

When that one time donation is the biggest ever, as in EVER, received by the Athletic Department? Um, quite simply, hell yes. I mean, you've got to be trolling. Also, you didn't answer how much you were going to donate to make up for running them off?

Nascar must think taxpayers pay the coaches salaries.
"one-time donation" pssshh

If Penny only wins 8 games he will get fired too
Thing is he probably would only have had about 10 in that Conference..

You do realize we were 11-2 with 3 top 25 wins before we even got to conference play, right?

Just part of the financial malpractice of RCJ. Dude should have a bullet in the head

The Lauries didn't give a dime to the U of M before RC arrived.

Everything went to Missouri.

RC left the program in far better shape financially than it was in when he arrived.

1. You got proof that the Lauries never donated in the past? You know, like that proof you keep asking for in the Malco case.

2. RC left the program in a financial wreck. Your presumption is about as far from the truth as anyone can be. Everyone in the administration has hinted or outright said this. Even people who disliked Bowen, give him props for cleaning up the financial mess.

You do realize that that conference plays more conference games than we do right.. Albeit just 2 more so I’ll give the benefit of the doubt and give us 12 instead of 10..

He is another example of a former player who was given waaaaaay too much leeway because he was a former player.

He won 8 games this season. Penny won the AAC title last year beating the number 1 team in the finals. Apples and oranges. Penny deserves a years leeway. If he has a bad year next year then the boosters or main booster will look that the situation . We are made out of money like Michigan. Reading comprehension?

Seems that you left out the fact that Marcus Sasser, the AAC player of the year, went out during semi final game and didn't play in finals

Same could be said as to what if Mills had not gone out. Could the season have gone different? We will never know, but if one instance matters then so does another.

Memphis also played Houston short-handed the last few seasons, someone was out for us several times as well.
Houston still had the talent to absorb that loss.

Nascar just tries too hard to downplay anything Penny or the program does well.
Weird that a program "fan" feels that he needs to belittle the only time the program has ever beaten the #1 team in the country.
