Bring up enough FCS to round out a field of 96 teams or so and play college football. Tell the P4 to have fun being isolated in all sports until their USFL/XFL/Arena league gets old and loses billions. Then charge them a billion dollars each to rejoin our league with no voting rights for 10 years minimum.

In the meantime, develop an NCAA streaming service in which all programs are a shareholder and receive dividends based on their number of subscribers, after production costs are covered. All sports and all games will be aired on the service and only on the service. Sell local and national advertising for each game and limited conference and school advertising is included. All playoffs and tournaments are handled the same way with participating teams receiving a share for each game played on top of subscriber shares.

No more what game, where? One service to subscibe to and ALL of them are there.

why do we need the NCAA as it currently exists...

Need an organization of some sort to keep all the schools on the same page and that one already exists. They are only weak while the power schools have the upper hand in threatening to leave. Remove the threat...kick them out.

ESPN will dive into the drama just for the advertising placement and clicks. But people still don't and won't care. I'd be really interested in seeing what would happen if Ohio State's football team went on strike halfway through the season. Now that would be something to see. I know the Blue Color fans of Ohio would be pissed at the players, or I know I would. Asking the fans to pay for all of their scholarships and NIL.. oh it's gonna be a powder keg. Players are starting to not understand the relationship they have with the fans, they just see their football team a separate from the school and just another job. Fans are emotionally connected to the SCHOOL and everythign that goes with it... that's why they donate to their schools, because they love their schools. Soon they are gonna find out that some of these athletes do not love their school but they sure as hell will take the hard earned money of the fans.

bingo.

wasn't the point...

again, why as it currently exists?

they're an oligarchy unto itself...

they offer nothing as it currently exists vs. revenue streams to schools...

unless one loves dems......

Once players are employees…why require them to be students? And why limit eligibility to a number of years? Why not let employees work six years? Eight years? Ten? Why not let employees leave the job, go work in the NFL and then come back and work some more?

Legally, an employee has a right to work.

That’s your next step.

And this is all just a stupid circus.

All hell’s going to break loose when Uncle Roger takes offense at somebody deciding playing a 6th year at Penn State is preferable than being a late round draft pick or a practice squad free agent.

Or after a player retires, he and his son play on the same team. Y'all could have had both Frank Gores.

The schools probably don’t want the players to be their employees and the reason why can be summed up in two words — payroll taxes.
