I wonder who else we'll lose before the season is over. All the early talk about chemistry and how fast this team gelled seems to be hype. The last three games would seem to dispel that notion. Trying to please all those ego's is all but impossible.

I will preface this post-
I definitely do NOT have the highest basketball IQ on this board. But , I have watched college basketball for decades.

Brown's leaving the team would hurt. I would hate to see him leave. He is a quality big man who is going thru a slump. He has a NCAA career that shows he can play on this level. As a Tiger, he has had good games and bad games. His post moves and scoring in the post are NICE.
It is hard to find a quality big.

During Ole Miss game, I was yelling at tv. I was saying some not nice things about Brown. He played bad.
But, I wanted to see him play in next game, VCU. I wanted to see his response. We could have used his presence in the paint. I want to see him make a comeback.
In short, I am saying it would be a mistake to give up on him.

He’s too slow and too weak to play big Time division, one basketball. Its that or he’s been completely loafing the entire time he’s been here.

Every August I hear the same thing

1. Football: Defense will be the teams strength - never happens change the DC

2. Basketball: This year the chemistry is much better - never happens. Players leaving others in shoving matches in games, mysterious injuries / illnesses. Tendinitis , personal matters etc

Wash rinse repeat

Next August we will hear the same thing.

Is it a coincidence that his best game was against Missouri?

A lot of truth to that. Talking hoops.....things always seem to look the same. Same/similar issues on the court and off.

The sky isn't falling completely yet. Lol. There's a long way to go with a lot of new parts, so we'll see what happens. But it does feel like we need to temper the expectations...

We'll have this same conversation next year if something doesn't break the cycle. But hey, if we go dancing and win a couple then I can't really complain too much.

Regardless of what happens with Brown, you’ve gotta go 2-1 in these next 3 games or else it’s another 8/9 seed in March and first weekend exit.

That’s what worries me. Watch for him to get an “injury”. Pierre can’t be long for the program either. Not sure about the other two freshmen. With everything that’s happened JJ Taylor still has hardly seen the floor.

I have no idea the style of offense played at Louisiana Lafayette, but It was painfully clear Brown could not play at the tempo we play. He was continually late down the floor & out of position on defense; & then he would be so winded, smaller players were able to push him around on the block. The guy played more like he was a slow 6’4” power forward than a potential 6’11” pro center. What a disappointment, but also what a godsend he decided to leave the team this early. He would have been a season long, piss & vinegar distraction.

I sure as hell hope we didn’t pay his ass upfront.

That being said… Penny has to back it down with the obvious nepotism. He has more talented players riding the pine so he can play his sons. Walton has got to be in the rotation & Jayden’s minutes must be reduced.

Ashton can shoot but is a bit slow, Jayden is, well Jayden.

Neither should play ahead of Walton at this point imo

I do think Brown can help this team but he is a half step slow, but great touch around the hoop.

Such is life in the new NIL era.

I think Brown found the level of competition in our world was apparently over his ability to handle. If he is gone, then he is officially a "quitter". Better to find out now before he sours the attitudes of the rest of the team.
