Hmm. Makes me wonder if we just raised 10 million to add to other money athletics was already willing to spend. Bc by this metric, we’re building a practice shack then. And I don’t see Troy doing that when the rest of our athletic facilities are as nice as they are.

Coastal’s will be fully enclosed, 90,000 soft with a budget of $20 million.

That's what it sounds like.

The Troy chancellor said "we've made a $10 million commitment." He didn't say it was a $10 million facility. So it seems $10 mil is what the university has put forward, and more money is going to be raised.

Good for Troy to get this, but it’s shocking now that all FBS schools don’t have them since I’m driving past public high schools in Alabama that now have them. It’s amazing to to think you are trying to recruit a player to come play for you when their high school facilities are better then your FBS facilities. That’s not a dig at Troy, that’s a “I think we are spending to much money of high school athletics” dig.

Troy hasn’t stopped when it comes to upgrading facilities… the baseball stadium just finished its big upgrade… the largest video board in G5 baseball is going in this summer too.

You know Gary Wilbert will be calling you to pitch in. He calls me up and offers to buy me lunch. I know that I will get a $20 lunch and he will get a $1000 check. My buddy who owns a business and has more money to give than me told me about one time he swore he was only going to give Gary X amount and even bet me a Coke on it. He ended up giving Gary X+Y. I got a nice glass bottle of Coke on that bet.
Gary is a great fundraiser for Troy, but I swear he is part Terminator.

When you're in a state like Va that basically forbids you from using state money for anything athletics related, and penalizes FBS teams to keep student fees nearly half of what a non football school has, plus having a campus footprint that cant expand and there is public outcry anytime you try to acquire adjacent land, you can see why an IPF is pretty tough to get.

Waste of money. If you don’t want to play football outside because you play in a geographical extreme like the North Pole or the equator, then put a roof over your stadium. Otherwise practice outside to prepare for the games you will play outside.

Teams in the deep south can have a lot of practices lost due to thunderstorms that roll through on a regular basis. You can still practice if you have a practice facility. Before the Senior Bowl moved to USA’s stadium, they still used our practice facility when there was rainy weather in the area.

Troy is pretty frugal but when they commit to build something it’s usually a top notch facility.10 million is the commitment from the school not the total for the project.
