As usual, you make a great point about the injuries.

That said, most of those were on the defensive side of the ball, an area I thought held up quite well. Other than Samson's knees, our offense, however, was rather healthy and suffered from a talent deficiency. Austin is a fabulous back-up QB, but let's be honest, he does not have the skill sets to take this team to the next level. 11 MAC starts and he still has not beaten a MAC team with a greater than .500 record.

I am extremely proud of this team's effort! Still, this year's schedule was INCREDIBLY favorable, we drew the absolute bottom of the East division in crossover games, played just one payday game and still finished at just 6-6. Coach has some work to do, and it starts with QB recruiting.

Jerry, This schedule was tailored made for a 10-2, or 9-3 season! We avoided Miami Ohio, and Ohio U, and instead played Buffalo, Akron, and Kent St! The last two regular seasons we've 14 wins, not one team had a winning record! Only San Jose St did......I guess 6-6 and still hopefully going to a bowl game is better then nothing! We need QB, LB, RB, OL, CB desperately next season! Do you think Evans in the right scenario can play at the next level?

Samson knows who he is, and he could have sat out this season and petitioned the NCAA for another year while he got his knees possibly fixed. I suspect, however, he wants to move forward in his professional life outside of sports.

He brought his younger brother to EMU and NEVER gave us a performance we considered substandard. I hope they recognize his tremendous contribution at the Football banquet. Samson Evans was GREAT for us!

1. Finally we has our O.C. design a game plan that suited Austin. Short roll outs with running back option. (i.e. Jaylon Jackson's receiving touchdown). Austin looked the best we've seen him all season using his legs when needed and he used his tight ends. Not sure why it took until 12th game, but he looked way better

2. Offensive line looked WAY better than usual

3. Samson and Jaylon are special.

Didn't work so well in the second half. Only 2 first downs.07-coffee3

Yeah Emoni Bates had a terrible second half for the eagles last night.

Better yet the basketball program is winning without him.

Way too early to say that. Everyone has beaten U-D. While I obviously want the basketball team to "win without him," the reality is, they will be doing a lot of "losing without him." Sorry but your fairytale scapegoat ending is not going to happen. I am morbidly curious to see what the narrative is going to be when the Ls pile up. Edit: I already know, Stan Heath is a bum, fire him. Sad.

Evans is one tough dude but with all due respect his knee is clearly not healthy. He would have a hard time getting back to the line of scrimmage in the NFL. The guy to watch is Jaylon Jackson! I am actually shocked that a P5 program didn't come get him. I see unlimited potential for him as a change up guy, kick returner in the NFL. If I was his agent I would have him practice catching passes out of the backfield because I think he'd be a valuable third down back.

Contrary to popular belief. I never root for people to fail. I wish him well. Hope he does better.07-coffee3

With good health, Samson could get a shot as a fullback type player. The problem is that not every team has a player like that on their roster and he doesn't play special teams.

JJ is a little undersized, but that quick shiftyness is undeniable. He's a smaller version of Jahmyr Gibbs. The fact that he plays special teams is a bonus. He'll likely get a shot as a UDFA, if not a late round pick.

Well said Jerry. Samson is a special player that seems to never end up on his backside. No one can argue he has electric speed or the shiftiness of Jaylon but that dude always gives great effort.

I also think we also need to give respect to Jaylon who in my opinion is a fantastic RB

We asked him to play the every down back role for much of the year and small Jaylen took the pounding for sure. Clearly Evans and Jackson are the best two backs since Darius Jackson in 2015 and one could argue even better than Darius.
