- WVU runs the ball well, good defensively
- WVU #15 in the country in penalties, disciplined team
- still dealing with the flu in the locker room, hopeful to recover this week
- lots of coach speak about the OU game and the rest of the season, finish strong, played better, 2pt play attempt was effective in practice, fair criticism from fans with a tough loss, locker room is fine, high character guys, continue to grow... media really wanted to hammer Gus about the OU loss and mentality of the team...
- WVU is a good team, no off weeks in this league
- Moving forward in a positive way, 3 game stretch is in the past
- JRP is back and this is a different team with him on the field
- Admits to being thinner and lack of depth as the season progresses
- 1st half the season the penalties killed us, after the bye week we have cleaned up a lot of those mental errors
- Every week is a must win
- JRP's knee is getting better everyday, was happy to see him rush a little bit in the OU game
- JRP had 3 IVs in a 24hr period, missed meetings because he was too sick and tired to attend
- Lots of guys were sick, Flu game for lots of players who stepped up and battle through it
- Happy with the defense forcing turnovers against OU
- WVU is not the last placed team, strong program
I think UCF will get their first Big 12 win in this contest. With the way Neal Brown coaches games, WVU can only seem to get close wins and not fully dominate any team that isn't named Duquesne or Pitt.
Since the Houston game, the defense has been atrocious. UCF has shown that they can score points. It doesn't help my confidence knowing that WVU has only won one time in Orlando, and that was in 2004--also against a UCF team that went 0-11 that season. Times are different.
I think UCF wins a close game in another shootout for both squads.

Since BYU already picked up their first B12 win against TTech, WVU will luckily escape being the first B12 win for ALL of the newbie teams against one of the remainer teams.
I'm sure WVU is not looking forward to being the one to bust UCFs cherry in the W column and is hoping UCF suffers a 'failure to launch' episode. UCF still needs to prove it can 'finish'.
(see what i did?)

We need this win bad. UCF loses this one, we might not have the motivation or momentum to win another one, and will all but guarantee we miss bowl eligibility.

Welcome to P5 football...
take a look up and down the list of conference teams (especially for 2024), about 6 teams will not make a bowl game, take your best guess on who they may be... it's a tough slate of teams from top to bottom, but some teams will finish towards the bottom every year. (not the same teams every year, but some team(s)) Take a look, it's a tough task.

Never fear you will win at UC this year as we have Satterfield on our sideline.
West Virginia is one of the last 2005-13 Big East teams we don't have a win against yet. Many older UCF fans feel UCF should have been invited to the Big East in the early 2000s over South Florida. To complete the revenge tour we need to beat all the late 2000s Big East teams at least once.
WVU and Syracuse are the last 2 teams from the era to complete the revenge tour.
UCF against late 2000s era Big East:
South Florida: UCF leads series 8-6
Connecticut: UCF leads series 6-2
Cincinnati: Series tied 4-4
Rutgers: Series tied 1-1
Louisville: Louisville leads series 1-3 (1-2 since the 2005 decision)
Pittsburgh: Pitt leads series 1-2
West Virginia: WVU leads series 0-2 (WVU has never schedule UCF after 2005 decision)
Syracuse: Syracuse leads series 0-3 (Syracuse has never scheduled UCF after 2005 decision)

Its not all that different from SMU fans hating the old Southwest members for not being invited to Big 12.
The Big East decision was a program defining moment for UCF. That's when we reinvested in athletics, hired O'Leary, and built an On-Campus Stadium. The Big East decision was the best and worst thing to happen to us.

I would describe UCF Big 12 Conference play similar to a family that buys a cute little puppy on Monday and on Saturday it gets mauled late in the evening by a Wildcat.
Family tries again and puppy gets eaten by a Bear on Saturday.
Discouraged the family buys another puppy, because the family is heartbroken, only to have some very ugly Bird swoops in and carry it off.
Another Monday, and another puppy, and they lock it up to keep all animal predators away. It looks promising, but as the family is watching the football game another family of Dirt Burglars steal the puppy.
I suggest UCF buy another puppy, go and take away the musket from the Davy Crockett wannabe and all will end well for Homecoming this Saturday.
Best of Luck. If you win this Saturday, see you playing for a Bowl Game for a 6th win vs Houston.

If it weren't for that Big East decision, we might not be in the Big 12 in the first place.

I Luv dogs....just giving how heart wrenching it must be as a UCF fan watching each Saturday. Losing a puppy is a close second to losing a winnable game in the Big 12.

Solution: quit buying puppies and get a rescue from the local shelter.
