Good point, I never considered the Viotto angle.
I doubt that is much of an issue, if it is at all. Viotto wasn't "stolen" days before signing day, he committed to Minnesota in May of last year with signing day not until December. That is also the nature of recruiting these days, a guy that commits to your school means nothing other than your school is their currently leader. Until they actually sign nothing is official, and that goes double for a group of five school. If a guy commits early and blows up and gets power five offers you are probably going to lose him.
Minnesota has a young starting QB with 3 years of eligibility. In today's world, Viotto won't wait until 2026 to play and will be in the portal before then.

Fired up to see our guys in Minnesota. The Howard game was so hard to draw from for me. I wasn't super impressed with Austin at QB, but I know I'll learn more about him today. Without Kline at LB we struggled and we NEED him tonight. We hopefully get back Seatbelt Scotty, Kline and Gomez which should allow us all to get a better understanding of who this team is. We didn't have any take-aways last week and we will need at least 1 to take a possession away tonight to stand a chance.
Let's go Eagles!!
Great point! Looking back at our recent history against power five teams:
Rutgers: We won the turnover battle 2-1
Purdue: We won 2-1
Illinois: We won 2-1
Arizona State: Tie 1-1
Kentucky (2017): Loss 1-3
Kentucky (2019): Loss 1-2
Pitt: Tie 1-1
Wisconsin: Tie 1-1
Pretty obvious pattern there. Also of note, the one time we beat a power five school and didn't win the turnover battle (ASU) we were 11 for 15 on 3rd/4th down conversions and ASU was 3 for 9, something else to keep an eye on tonight.
Getting the injured back is vital. Did they sit last week as a precaution? Was CC sandbagging? EMU must play good defense, keep UM under 24 points, and get a turnover or two. Short fields for the offense are a must.
I saw Kline practicing this week in one of those promo videos the team puts out.
The Minnesota fans are generally looking past EMU to NC next week. Let's hope that attitude permeates into their team.
