I predicted 3-9 at the start of the year, so I can speak to at least what I saw that made me lack confidence.
1. Our offense has been inept year after year. There were no signs it would improve at all when you bring in four transfer portal QBs who weren't playing at their respective schools.
2. We lost our defensive coordinator who kept us in many games last year. Our defense wasn't going to improve losing him and have only regressed.
I don't think it's a matter of 'nobody is sure of what happened.' It's pretty apparent now what happened and was happening. The problem I've seen is that SO MANY fans are massive Will Hall fans and want him to succeed, despite the red flags. For two years now, any time someone pointed out concerns, they were shot down and told Hall was the man who'd get us back where we wanted to be, despite no sign of that actually being the case. Heck, if not for Tulane having their worst game of the year against us, we wouldn't have gone bowling last year either.
USM requires a specific type of coach to be successful. Unfortunately, those in administration continue to hire the exact opposite.

Do you suggest the fans wish for the HC to fail?

Of course not! I wanted Hall to prove me wrong. What I’m saying is that there are a lot of fans who simply refuse to acknowledge glaring problems because they believe the coach is ‘doing it the right way’. To state otherwise gets you called quite a few names around here.
