Also, the UTSA MBB location opened two weeks ago. The reviews down there so far are… shall we say… mixed?

Also a third Texas location in Lancaster, both the north Texas area shops comfortably within a 20-30 minute radius of the SMU campus, depending on traffic.

Sorry Mean Green, it’ll be closer to 35:00 to get down to Euless.

Spoiler alert on my review, though… it might be worth your drive…

As much as guys on here talk about Bojangles, I'll certainly give it a try. I'm not too surprised about them opening up in north Texas. Every time I turn around, they're building something new around DFW.

Unfortunately Bojangles has become hit or miss since they became publicly traded. When it privately owned, you could go to anyone and knew it was going to crush.

This. They used to be solid

I stopped by one not long ago for a Cheddar Bo Biscuit and the damn thing wasn't done. Pure dough inside and the cheese wasn't melted. Disgusting

oatm hesitates to mention the new Bo’s in Ruston LA gets much better reviews than the UTSA MBB location. Tommy McClelland and his magic touch still paying dividends. I’m sure the one’s coming soon to the Rice area will also be similarly stellar.

Fun fact, Bojangles is the 2nd largest employer of UNC@Char grads, just behind Dollar General.

Pretty sure the UTSA Bb Bojangles is actually a knock-off called Bojingles. It hasn’t been confirmed that the meat they are using is chicken.

clt says utsa mbb doesn't deserve bojangles, or even a knock off.

The North Texas market celebrates the AAC expansion w/Bojangles!!
Bojangles
Euless TX
Open date: June 27, 2023
Visit date: July 31, 2023

Wow!

It has been years since I’d had the pleasure of visiting Bojangles. They’d been a breakfast time staple of mine when visiting the Carolina and Maryland coasts back in the day.

I stumbled across this one looking for cheap gas on the internet. And it was just a mile away from the cheapest gas in town.

As soon as I arrived I could tell it had already developed a popular following. The double drive thru was almost wrapped around the building. I didn’t care. I had to have my fix. And find out “how bad” it was going to be. Because I knew that beloved regional chains like Bo’s never survive the relocation pains. At least not with their soul intact.

Took a full fifteen minutes to make it thru the line. And construction work in the parking lot made it night impossible to hear over the drive thru speaker. Nevertheless they got my order 100%, I mean 167% correct.

3 piece chicken tender combo, substitute dirty rice as a side, lemonade and the new Grandma’s Peach Cobbler.

First bite of my chicken was excuisite! I was transported back in time to far Eastern Carolina, in the 20th century, a simpler time and place but a place with tasty chicken and biscuits. This was worth not just the 15 minute wait in line but the 30 year wait since my days back in Purple Pirate Country.

The biscuit was hot and buttery. The dirty rice was… problematic. I’d received good friendly service and had plenty of napkins but alas, no plastic ware had been provided. I would have to wait until I got home to try the dirty rice.

Until at a stop light, I hatched a plan. Plastic forks? We don’t need no plastic forks. Call me uncouth, but right there sitting at a traffic light in a relatively well-to-do North Dallas area neighborhood, I just popped the top of my dirty rice and just started munching. And let me tell you, that Bojangles Dirty Rice was by far the best dirty rice this dirty Rice Fan has ever consumed, forked, or unforked.
Flavorful, moist, and best of all, so, so dirty!

Oh and about that 3 piece combo. There were clearly 5 pieces of chicken in there. It took me quite a while to polish them off, and I was so full I had to save the cobbler for later.

I will be back and if they can come through with this kind of quality food production consistently, then call me hooked.

All over again.

Ponies, Mean Greenies, Roadrunners (and even the occasional lurking Bulldog) —Bojangles is here in our backyard and it might maybe be here to stay!* So come getcha some!

Texas: Euless, Lancaster, San Antonio
Louisiana: Ruston, Duson(LoL)

All five have opened in the past month or so.

Bo’s is coming!

No surprise. UTSA has always been a KFC school.

RE: The North Texas market celebrates the AAC expansion w/Bojangles!!
The Texas locations of Bo's will not be serving bone-in-chicken apparently, as that is the plan for new restaurants in the national expansion. It looks like real chicken is safe for the time being in the core markets like NC, but I am sure some bean-counter will kill that at some point.
