JK, We won't be like that... I hope. I believe and can speak for all of us new members and say we are very glad to be joining the AAC today, and we appreciate all of your universities for including us in this conference.

And in the spirit of goodwill, I'm giving points to any newbie that posts a genuine complement about a legacy AAC program.

Although well documented challenges exist, we are all in the same boat together rowing toward the same destination (ie. IMO, the CFP spot and top overall FB G5 and more than one bid to the NCAA BB tourney).

We have the best opportunity as a conference to reestablish itself as a premier league after this shuffle, and I hope to see a collective effort, including those legacy members to “POWER FORWARD” regardless of individual university goals.

A Rising tide lifts all boats. Legacies were the beneficiaries of that and now the same opportunity arises with this new look

Opened the on-line version of the Houston Chronicle today and was pleased to see Rice (top left) and UH (top right) sharing the Sports page cover. Rice did pony up the money to get their “Fly with the Owls” banner ad at the bottom of page B1 whereas the Coogs “Welcome to the Big 12” ad was relegated to page B3 under coverage of the senior open golf tournament.

The Joseph Duarte Rice article, including Aresco quotes, is still behind the Chronicle paywall. But it reads like Rice was always a front runner to replace Houston as the AAC wanted continued representation in the Houston media market.
