West Florida had the best backdrop in college athletics with the ocean. So they no longer play there?

They ended their agreement with Blue Wahoos Stadium after the 2021 season. It was surprising as the bayside view is amazing but the stadium could only seat about 5100 fans in the football setup and was sight obstructed from many seats. I loved games there but it’s not an ideal setup. As the GSC columnist on D2Football.com back then, I was in the home plate press box or adjacent elevated view with crazy angled sidelines. Great small baseball stadiums don’t always equal good football venues.

Other rumors are that they are telling recruits that they will be FCS in 2025.

Were you at the game in Madison a couple years ago?

WRONG

It was a great backdrop... but you are right, not the ocean.

It is a bay, of the Gulf...

Very nice looking stadium. From the picture, I'd say it has a capacity of about 9,000 (not sure if that's been announced somewhere yet). Looks like a great stadium for FCS and I can see that they've designed it with the potential to expand if needed. Long term I think West Florida has to be on CUSA's radar, although I'd imagine it would be best to see how they do in FCS first and what the attendance is.

The CUSA needs to have the same approach to Tarleton State.

The original plan to expand up to 15,000 when they were looking to add football back in 2010. Maybe thinking of going FBS down the road? North Florida and FGCU need to start to think about adding football to go FBS.

The local news says it will initially seat 7,500 with ground breaking in 2026.

Football should not be played in a baseball stadium. The whole setup was a joke.

I agree. Too bad it took the NFL years to figure that out.

Hahahaha, I'm actually a little proud of myself. I thought that wasn't a bad guess based on a picture!

I didn't say it was good, I said it was a good atmosphere...
