We already had massive problems with transfers at the end of his tenure and that was before the free transfers were there. You wont find a more accomplished available coach though.

As far as HCIB .. I'm torn. He's a pretty solid recruiter. Its hard to ignore how much better the team got as this year went along, but by that time, it was too late to save his job here. I know it was mentioned that Charlotte could also get him cheap because WSU will be paying up to his current WSU buyout payment. IB is a good dude and would love to see him get another shot. He's not the most inspiring coach with press conference and speeches but might be right for a school like Charlotte that doesn't have the expectations of a WSU.

Au contraire, we most definitely have high expectations, it's just our AD's coaching decisions since Lutz have been terrible. Our AD whiffed on both Healey and Sanchez. If this hire goes sideways, Hill is toast, IMO.
I didn't saw LOW expectations .. just said you guys don't have the same level of expectations as WSU basketball. I'm sure 99% of people would agree with that. WSU expects to be in the NCAA tournament damn near every year. Its been proven that's possible. I think most people's expectations of Charlotte is being a good NIT level team most years with a few NCAA years and some down years mixed in.

I remember a time when Charlotte was in the NCAA tournament every year.

I first really became aware of both the NCAA tournament, and breasts, the year that UNCC/Charlotte went to the Final Four with Cedric "Don't call me Cornbread" Maxwell and those cheerleaders in the green-and-white plaid.

Gene Bartow described the old Sun Belt, when it was good at basketball and not yet lowly, as "UNCC's conference" when UAB joined, to emphasize what a big deal that was. I would later marry not one but two college dance team hot chicks.

I blame my addictions to college basketball, and busty women in green cheerleader outfits, on UNCC/Charlotte. So I expect a lot more out of Charlotte basketball than we've seen since the Porn Stache got fired.

clt says congrats on the dance team hot chicks!!

Muggsy Bogues interested in 49ers head coaching job

“I’d take an interview to see if there’s some interest,” Bogues said when asked about the situation.

Bogues has been a bench boss before; in 2005, he was the Charlotte Sting’s head coach in the WNBA.

Bogues was also the head coach at Charlotte’s United Faith Christian Academy, leading the group to two state championships from 2011-2014.

Fun fact - ECUGrad07 went to the Muggsy Bogues Basketball Camp back in the 90's. Played knockout with Muggsy & Dell Curry. ECUGrad07 lost.

Nope, there's no mutual interest.

That's suspect. Not sure what that person's source is. It's just a terrible time to try and find the right coach. Sanchez really dicked us over. Probably best to go with the interim coach and do a proper coach search after next season.

I don't blame other coaches for turning down the job (if that is true). It would be a difficult start coming in this late AND they would be dicking over their old programs just as much as Sanchez.

RE: Sanchez steps down as Charlotte HC
I think Sanchez figured out that he isn't HC material. Sadly, it took him longer than it did our fans. He has gone back to UVA where he can work for his best friend once again, teaching the one thing that he knows--boring basketball. I expect him to be a career assistant now.

Our "coaching search" included Asst Fearne from the beginning and while I am sure we would have hired the right person if we could have, I think AD Mike Hill knew that the timing for that was just impossible. No question that we are making the best of a bad situation, but we did get all the media attention that we are going to hire a new coach next year, giving Hill the opportunity to start having the off-the-record conversations now, which always start the process. I look for an announcement to come out immediately after the last game played by Charlotte, or the new coach's current team, whichever is last.

What do you guys think about Isaac? While I'm at it what do you think about Marshall? The list of coaches not employeed at the moment isn't great. Our AD is definitley in a bind with this one.

He would be a great hire for your program. He stepped into a $#!÷ Show at Wichita State with the Marshall exit and developments with NIL and the transfer portal. I felt like he found his groove this year as the team got better as season went on. He also had the Mississippi player of the year coming in and was in on some other top tier recruits when he was let go. So I think he would be a great hire for your program. He can build on your CBI finish and will have you guys very competitive shortly! If you do hire him he's a great guy. We let him go too soon!

ECU will need a coach soon, so I say go for it when the time comes.

I grew up watching Mugsy and he is a community legend but there isn’t a single shred of evidence that says he should be a head coach.
