Hopefully USM gets the pitching to settle down and give TX State all they want and then some.

We’ve done not so well against good hitting teams (see the Illinois series). Have a bad feeling this one will be similar versus TXST.

I was listening to someone the other day and they said what they think Hall's problem is was back over the summer he hurt his shoulder and then rested it the rest of the summer and most of the fall. The hope is he's just rusty and it'll come around the fear is that it's not fully healed.

I think last weekend he was throwing in the high 80s where a year ago it was the low to mid 90s.

Hall was hitting 90-91 consistently on the Trackman gun last Friday. I don't recall that he ever hit the mid-90s, even on the "hot" gun we had before we got the Trackman with the new scoreboard installed. I've been at all of his home starts both this year and last.

Not sure y'all have Golden Chicks out that way but I saw one here the other day and thought of y'all. Apparently my brain has become SBC mush.

Baseball Conference Play Talk
We haven't played anyone for me to know how we'll do in conference. Slightly frustrating to have inflated wins on teams that barely have pulses. Because it forces us to be perfect in conference.

However we should win the series against ULM this weekend. Maybe.

RE: Baseball Conference Play Talk
Alright first day of conference play with Monarchs making the trip to Monroe this weekend. We haven't played any good teams until now so we as a team are still untested for the most part. ULM folks, What's the skinny on your team this season? Record doesn't look good but that doesn't tell the story so what's going on? Any guys hurt or out this season that are gonna come in during the conference play? Did you guys lose a lot of production from last year?

USA is going to have tough sledding the next two weeks. We are young and still trying to firm up a few positions in our lineup and we open conference play @GS this weekend then vs Louisiana next weekend. Hopefully we manage to win a some games.

This is what chat gpt says a pitcher should do after making speed improvements.

Quote:When a college pitcher improves their fastball speed, there are several adjustments they may need to make to ensure they continue to pitch effectively:

Adjust pitch selection: With an increase in fastball speed, the pitcher may need to adjust their pitch selection to keep the batter guessing. A good mix of fastballs, breaking balls, and off-speed pitches can make it harder for batters to predict what is coming.

Work on control: An increase in fastball speed can make it harder to control the pitch, so the pitcher should focus on maintaining their accuracy and control. This can be achieved through repetition and practice.

Improve conditioning: Throwing harder can be more taxing on the body, so the pitcher should ensure they are in top physical condition to handle the increased workload.

Adjust mechanics: With an increase in fastball speed, the pitcher may need to adjust their pitching mechanics to ensure they are using their body effectively and not putting too much strain on their arm.

Study opposing batters: As the pitcher's reputation spreads, opposing batters may adjust their approach to hitting against them. The pitcher should study their opponents to identify any changes in their hitting approach and adjust their pitching strategy accordingly.

Overall, a college pitcher who improves their fastball speed should focus on refining their pitching mechanics, improving their control, and adjusting their strategy to stay effective against opposing batters.

So from the reduction in pitch count, it looks like the additional speed is taking a toll on his arm.

. . . not sure I’d qualify us as a “good hitting team,” at least not yet. To date, we’ve been rather streaky . . . either hitting a ton, or cold as ice.

Don’t know which is showing up tonight.. .
