Surprised Gilmore over Berry. Decent job on the team overall.

We deserved more than 2 on 1st team and 1 on second team.

USM gets 3 total, and Coastal gets 7 or 8 if you include coach of the year. They won the conference with one more win, one more win!

They are the better team, but not 167% better like the all-conference selections suggest.

Maybe our TEAM can show them their mistake in the tournament. Berry and company did a great job considering what the portal did to us in the off season.

Then according to SBC he didn’t have many all conference players but still almost won the regular season title.

Berry probably should have gotten it as a nice send off for a great career, a great year and a hell of a strong finish. But what Coastal has done this year has been remarkable - picked to finish 5th, having a ton of freshman, and the best team measurables in just about every category: RPI, SOS, NC SOS, outright conference champion, and didn't lose one conference series all year.

Yeah, that’s not how it works lol

You can’t confuse team accomplishments with individual honors. The All-SBC team is simply a matter of “are you the best or 2nd-best in the league at your position?” If yes, you’re there. If not, you’re not.

It can get convoluted if you think about it too much, though, and you can argue it a dozen ways. Sure, Berry would be an odd choice for COTY when finishing 2nd after being picked to finish 1st, but OTOH, if you have 4 of the best at their positions on your team, do you really need to be that great coach to win? Well, maybe, if you made them into the 4 best at their position.

Congrats to all the winners and their respective schools.

If this was already posted here somewhere I missed it...the conference started an award named after Tony Robichaux.

in before these are tickets bought versus scanned.

Looking at attendance for the year, on NCAA's website, we are listed as averaging 5,095. Which has us at 10th for the year. We are number one in the nation with stadium capacity at 118%.

However, when I average our numbers, the number I get is 5,106. We played a DH against GASO and one of those numbers is 0. If I put the Attendance of 5367 in twice for the double header I get 5279. If I just take the 0 out and average I get 5276. Either number would put us ahead of Nebraska at 9th instead of 10th.

Not sure what is going on here or why my average doesn't match NCAA.org's number.

Here are SBC Numbers as a whole
1 5095 Southern Miss.
2 3812 Louisiana
3 2408 Ga. Southern
4 1881 Coastal Carolina
5 1743 Troy
6 1637 Texas St.
7 1206 South Alabama
8 909 ULM
9 528 App State
10 412 Georgia St.
11 387 James Madison
12 370 Old Dominion
13 295 Marshall
14 293 Arkansas St.

Half our league is above 1,000 average and would love to see all the league above that number.

These are our top ten most attended games this year.
05/19/2023  Louisiana L 1-10 5530
05/20/2023  Louisiana W 11-9 5429
05/07/2023  South Alabama W 6-1 5413
03/25/2023(1)  Ga. Southern W 9-7 5367
03/25/2023(2)  Ga. Southern L 8-10 5367
05/06/2023  South Alabama W 6-4 5350
02/18/2023  Liberty W 2-1 5342
05/05/2023  South Alabama W 6-4 5326
02/24/2023  Illinois L 5-13 5321
05/18/2023  Louisiana W 4-0 5315

Looks like the number to use for us this year for average Attendance is 5,276. Glad USM could answer this question for me.

USM Attendance Increasing.

Quote:Most impressively, the Golden Eagles total and average attendance numbers are the best outside of the SEC and Big 12, topping all other conferences in the NCAA.

This puts us at 9th nationally. Louisiana clocks in at 17th Nationally.

Rank Avg Attendance Institution Conference
1 11,095 Mississippi St. SEC
2 11,048 LSU SEC
3 10,095 Ole Miss SEC
4 9,643 Arkansas SEC
5 7,086 South Carolina SEC
6 6,730 Texas Big 12
7 5,834 Florida SEC
8 5,577 Texas A&M SEC
9 5,276 Southern Miss. Sun Belt
10 5,117 Nebraska Big Ten
11 4,748 Oklahoma St. Big 12
12 4,478 Florida St. ACC
13 4,402 East Carolina AAC
14 4,370 Tennessee SEC
15 4,158 Clemson ACC
16 3,998 TCU Big 12
17 3,812 Louisiana Sun Belt
18 3,711 Texas Tech Big 12
19 3,690 Auburn SEC
20 3,688 Vanderbilt SEC

Also looking at our top attended games this year you can see that Louisiana, USA and Georgia Southern brought some fans and added interest. Thanks SBC for the attendance boost. This is why I am excited about being in the SBC. I'd like to make the trips to UL and GaSo next year. Those look like a great atmosphere for college baseball.

Manning (All conference) blew the save in the USM vs Troy game last night.

Storm (who got snubbed) got the 1.66 inning, clutch save, and the win. I guess if we are forced to choose I will take the wins and not the all-conference accolades.

In a small state with 2 SEC schools at 1 and 3. Not bad at all.

APP fans you finished top 4 in the tournament and 6th regular season. I’m thinking you guys can increase your baseball season tickets to above 1,000 especially with that great stadium you have.

We set records for season tickets, single game attendance, and total attendance this season so excitement is building. We just have to put multiple good seasons together. We did that from 2009-2012 and had a pretty strong following when we to the Regionals.in 2012. Then Pollard went to Duke and we made a bad hire that killed every bit of momentum.

The biggest hurdle is weather which kills early season attendance.

RE: Baseball Conference Play Talk
I've been impressed with what Kermit Smith has done at App so far. They made huge strides this year, were the biggest cinderella story of the SBC tourney, and are real competitors in the league now. App used to be an auto-sweep for us. We swept them each of their first 4 seasons in the league from '15-'18. We started with 14 straight wins over App after they entered the league before they finally salvaged a game 3 vs. us in '19.

Them digging out of the cellar has really helped the league as a whole and they've been an important part in elevating the SBC into a top 5/6 conference. Now think of how strong this league could be if Marshall, ULM, and A-State could have similar improvements.
