RE: 2023 Transfer portal
Estrada and Manyang have entered the portal. So this will be Estrada's 4th school as a grad transfer. Big hit for the league, of course.

Portal/ex-Dragons related:

T.J. Bickerstaff is moving on from Boston College.

Looks like Xavier Bell is sticking with hometown Wichita St. despite the coaching change.

Truly not opposed to bringing TJ back (not that he would come). BC was such a dumb poor decision by him, Grant's style was never going to benefit him

RE: 2023 Transfer portal
just 2 observations.

1. it's a miracle we haven't lost any transfers.

2. it doesn't make me any more optimistic about our team moving forward...which is a problem.

RE: 2023 Transfer portal
I have been assuming we would still see some players go, just because that's how it is these days. (1,300 transfers so far across D-I.) We'll see.

I understand your second point. Seems to me we need to improve our 3-point shooting. We ranked No. 305 nationally in 3PT%. Might mean mixing in more playing time for certain players and less for others.

RE: 2023 Transfer portal
I agree with both of you. We have a bunch of the same player and none stand out or do anything particularly well, so hoping that chemistry only will be enough to change anything is a tall ask. I do like what may come from Moore with a year under his belt though. I still vote for make a big play for Bickerstaff and go to a more up tempo run and gun style and let Moore, TJ and Amari loose. I think this team as is is better with more pace than running a methodical offense of standing around hoping for best from either Amari to get open or a prayer late in the shot clock.

I take these sorts of posts with a grain of salt, but FYI.

Like the size, maybe the staff and step down could help the stats.

247 would've put him as our #2 all-time recruit between Okros and TJ.

At least we're kicking tires.

Not portal related but women's assistant coach Jillian Dunston has left to return to Michigan, where she played. Big loss for our program

RE: 2023 Transfer portal
Timberlake chose Kansas. Mindboggling. Im sure he got paid, but cant imagine he is a starter or big contributor there. Seems like a bench player/role player at that program

RE: 2023 Transfer portal
Not sure thats a payment thing (though it surely has some effect), as much as it was thats was where her teammate went that bailed on us. More and more sign pointed to those 2 being a package deal so when we lost one, now it appears that Kylie was never going to be long after. Her play also dipped down quite a bit afterward (and after her injury, guessing both are somewhat related)

RE: 2023 Transfer portal
not really sure why you would leave us for a dead end program like penn state. their head women's coach is likely out after next year. i guess she wants to play with her friend...and that's fine...they can make the same mistake together and be a package deal again next year when the coach gets fired.

wait...one other reason is she wants to see caitlin clark up close and personal. she could have just bought a ticket and maryland is probably closer.

new haven pizza is better than nepa pizza by the way.

like i said...i don't think college athletes should be immune from criticism like people want them to be. you want to move around and make money through nil like coaches...you face the music for your decisions like coaches.

RE: 2023 Transfer portal
Not Drexel or CAA related, but Naheem McLeod, a 7 foot 4 player from our local high school, Plymouth Whitemarsh, entered the portal. McLeod was with Florida State for the last few years. He may have even sat out his first two seasons, and I don't recall him being much of a factor at FSU. All of the schools who have contacted him are big time programs, but Villanova and Temple are on the list. It would not surprise me if he decides to come home and play for one of those programs.

Apparently the CAA is the home of St Francis Brooklyn. 3 players have now left that team to come to the CAA
