Per football scoop willie signs extension to 2030. He previously stated he needed facility upgrades and assistant pay increases to stay. Our AD announced new commitments to be announced this month. Football ops and potential bubble IPF

Apologies if this was posted elsewhere.

Roll Wave

Is there room on campus for an IPF?

"Bubbles" go over an existing football field during the winter months...similar to what Cincinnati has....but for Tulane, it might be needed much more in the hot summer/early fall days when summer thunderstorms are the norm. (Most bubbles do not have AC).

We're all aware about the design of "bubbles" and their use. The vast majority of schools do not take them down because they are utilized by all sports throughout the year.

But the question was not about "bubbles" but if Tulane has the space for the IPF.

I’m assuming the 50 yard field behind the stadium can be bubbled for indoor use… it’s a space that can give all sports some indoor room to manage if their is rain…

Tulane stadium is turf so rain is only a problem if it is raining down.. being wet is not a problem ….

So we use the saints world class ipf, the only issue is New Orleans rain in the summer sometimes comes out of nowhere and costs us a practice. The bubble would be used 10 times max per year.

Rice says no problem that works great, that’s how we did it before we moved up to the American.

No IPF => build character => forge champions

The threads on Bearcat Banter were beyond hilarious. I laughed for a long time.

The public announcement was made on Tuesday/27th November 2012. It was the week after Thanksgiving and it came completely out of left field, as far as I was concerned. The Tulane message boards had not a single drop of the speculation and wishcasting that usually preceded this sort of thing. For Tulane, the MVP was John C. Hitt, the president of UCF from 1992-2018 and a double-alum of Tulane. He made this happen more than any other individual person.

Hasn’t it been disproven that Tulane was the genesis of the big east disbanding ? Additionally wasnt the vote unanimous to admit them with (1 or 2 folks abstaining).

In retrospect, probably the smartest move the AAC has ever made all things considered.

The money isn’t the problem. There’s no space. We are an old university located in an old residential neighborhood, it’s not like North Texas or UCF or anything like that. Look at a Google earth image of our campus and you’ll understand.

Yeah I mean the reality is if we build our own, it will likely still require a drive from campus. With the agreement to use the Saints' facility for indoor practices, it's not a huge improvement to build our own facility if it's still off campus. I still think we should do it, but it puts that below a couple of other things as top priority facilities improvements right now.

I understand what Tulane can and cannot do. You're landlocked, so to speak. My older brother is a Tulane Grad from many years ago. Let's just say, as a kid I attended a Tulane FB game in the Grand ole Sugar Bowl Stadium. Biggest stadium I had ever been in at the time. 80K capacity, I believe.04-cheers

Bawhahaha…no IPF forges champions!! Oh boy those games of Rice vs Tulane in front of 3000 fans will be fun next year in Houston. The basketball games in front of 250 fans will be even better.

We’ll have a helluva lot more in attendance for the defending champions than we will for the pirates of penzance.

We do like our IPF, almost as much as our IPA.

I’ll take your IPA. I think I’m beginning to like you. You can dish it and take it. My kind of guy
