Tulane signs Willie Fritz to deal through 2030- Facililty Upgrades incoming
https://mobile.twitter.com/FootballScoop...9017465857

Per football scoop willie signs extension to 2030. He previously stated he needed facility upgrades and assistant pay increases to stay. Our AD announced new commitments to be announced this month. Football ops and potential bubble IPF

Apologies if this was posted elsewhere.

These contracts are typically irrelevant until the big fat deal shows up, as we all know. But this is clearly different IMO.

I’ve followed Tulane since I was a student there in the 90s. Tulane has always been the proverbial sleeping giant, awesome location and way, way more local fans than want to admit it but will be activated. Awake now, finally.

Tulane has always been scared in coaching hires, at least in my fandom, about hiring coaches that will have success then leave. It’s like hooking up with a girl who’s out of your league in your own mind, then ruining everything with your own paranoia. It’s a bad outlook, that’s (past hopefully) Tulane football.

Fritz is the guy that the fanbase has waited for, he can be Tulane’s Bill Snyder, that’s got to be appealing. This is great news Roll Wave

We all know the 2030 length of the contract is meaningless. Butttt I hope it means we have a good chance to keep him through 2024, at least a fighting chance!

In 2025 he turns 65. At that point, I feel that the age factor combined with a direct road to the CFP, and we might end up with Tulane's Bill Snyder.

Of course, he could definitely still leave. But who wants to pack up their house and life at 65/70 years old to start over new? Especially when you got a good thing going.

Tulane is building to rejoin the SEC, which they never should have left.

The contract length holds no meaning or assurance. However, the investment in the program is good news for Tulane’s prospects and for the AAC by extension.

If they build out their facilities and get consistent sell outs or near sell outs with a good football team, they may jump to being next in line for a P5 slot.

I’ve been saying that for years. I think we are already there, the hottest commodity in college athletics at the moment. Our market is superior and our academics are top notch. I don’t think the SEC is realistic but the other four conferences have to have us at the top of their list now and moving forward. Tulane has changed the college landscape and the power now resides in New Orleans.

Tulane is a school that has always had the best of all kinds of boxes checked…

*Destination city
Most top recruits per capita
Deep South and accessible from Texas to Florida
AAU
Largest employer in New Orleans
*Top party school and top 50 academic school (don’t know how that is possible but it is the truth)
Played football 120 years plus

Just needed the school itself to say we care about good sports and we want to win…

Should be fun next few years with This administration and Willie!!!

If nothing else, you get him for longer and you upgrade facilities.

What I’ve gathered from this thread. One good season, and now P5 conferences are hot to trot with Tulane. Got it.

To be fair, winning is the only thing that's kept Tulane from being another Miami/USC/Baylor/Stanford/BC.

Plus we're in the South. Plus we have New Orleans. It doesn't get more slam dunk than that.

Yes, Tulane has always been the belle of the ball so to speak. We have everything that college sports fans desire which is markets and academics. The AAC has been a tremendous conference for us and this conference is still miles ahead of the G4 but I do believe that Tulane’s time in this conference will be coming to end shortly. We are just way too attractive to conferences like the Big Ten and the Big 12 now. We are a slam dunk pick and now that we have a cotton bowl trophy, the whole “but what about your on the field performance” argument is out the window. We are a juggernaut and nothing can stop us.

Hahahaha….you had a great year. But stop. Big 10? Insanity. Maybe you and SMU could go to the PAC as a pair though. Your stadium is tiny. Got to get more than 23k at your games. What’s hoop’s attendance like?
