So Liberty is basically still in the Big South. This is awesome.

RE: OT: Kennesaw State to join CUSA in 2024
I guess I find it kinda funny how so many people get upset about a team wanting to grow and become FBS. There are a number of Sunbelt teams that are not far removed from the same situation. It seems to have worked out just fine for them. Why would you begrudge another school wanting to follow that same path? I think it’s great. Good for KSU.

Good luck to the Sunbelt team. It’s a good time to be a Sunbelt fan. The conference has shown a lot of growth and strength. Your athletics are moving in the right direction.

And best of luck to KSU. If FBS is what they want...and I have a tough time understanding why fans of a program at a school that size would want to stay FCS...then good for them for taking the opportunity when it presented itself.

Lol, you'll get over it.

Georgia State fans have complained forever about their school's inabaility to draw from the Atlanta market, something tells me that Kennesaw State is going to have the same problem. There's just too many things to do in the area that college football outside of UGA plays like 5th fiddle behind the Braves, Hawks, Falcons, and Atlanta United

KSU averaged a little over 5k fans last year with a high of 9k (NC A&T likely brought a good crowd) and a low just under 3k.

I know I said it already but this looks more and more like a direct replacement for UNCC. Big school just outside of a major city, small stadium, and terrible attendance. I guess they like what that type of program brings to the table, whatever that may be.

Well that definitely waters down Georgia. Just another reason for Ga state to run for the exit. Competition in the neighborhood. It'll be interesting to see the facilities. HEHEHEHE.

Think I would have gone for some schools in the Dakotas and Montana if I were C-USA. At least they have fans and state name recognition.

Geography/travel is the issue. They want to reduce travel costs, not increase them.

This is gonna be some shell game. Especially with the new GA BOR rules regarding student fees and subsidies. It's puzzling. But I am putting on the popcorn.

It looks like maybe they hope to sell the Atlanta marketz to some media company.

There's no point in increasing the stadium size unless it's strictly required by the conference or fbs. They look just like SHSU attendance wise. If they build a bigger stadium, it will look totally empty.

I guess. They're already spread from New Mexico to South Florida to Virginia. Not sure how much they can decrease it.

Man I hate to say this because I really don't have anything personally against KSU, but they don't fill their 8300 seats. This is all so weird.

I wish them the best, and the same to our old chums in C-USA, but...oof.

I do a lot of work in ATL, and those students at KSU don't give a crap about KSU. Most are hardcore Georgia fans. KSU is just a place for them to go to school, and that's about it.

They don't go to any athletic events unless Chick-fil-A food vouchers are being given away.

This won't be good for CUSA.

Keep in mind, we have some notorious trolls who spent years here telling us that the SBC would never be anything unless they picked up Kennesaw State. It became a running joke at some point.

It's the type of programs CUSA is bringing up. If NDSU or Montana went FBS I think most here would be happy for them and would believe FBS is where they belong. When it's a program that's existed for 5 minutes and has 2 fans it's just another FBS team that really belongs in FCS.

Glad we can agree on where GA State should be. 05-stirthepot
