East: JMU, CC, and AppState
West: Louisiana, USA and Troy

Of course, I’m holding out hope for my Herd to be relevant at the end, but the last two weeks don’t inspire me with any real confidence.

Why?
Tradition, I suppose. Still learning the west.

RE: Sun Belt Power Rankings - Week 4
Injuries are the concern at the moment.
We have top 3 OLs out, top TE out, walk-ons saw the field at WR and LB, thinned out depth on defense, new players making mental mistakes vs UNCC/Coastal giving up quick scores.

Georgia State O-line especially has back up guards starting on left and right tackles. back up center playing at guard. OL is a mess.

GSU OL that played vs UNCC/CCU was not the core group of 5 OLs that pushed around UNC and USC in the trenches.

A scheme built around running the ball can't run the ball. That's what you saw. 2nd string OL couldn't make holes vs Coastal.

We are undisputed 14 as is. The team that played USC/UNC didn't play UNCC and Coastal.

ESPN FPI

1 56 APP
2 61 MU
3 62 USA
4 65 JMU

5 83 Troy
6 84 CC
7 85 USM
8 86 GS

09 91 UL
10 92 stAte

11 102 ODU
12 106 GSU
13 110 TXST
14 114 ULM

Nice to see no SBC team in the bottom 17

Yes I know ODU just beat stAte - but would they have on a neutral field?

I think I’m at the point of rooting for a 0 win season to end this failed project. Hopefully Cobb gets the block too.

You have Monroe at 13 and ULL at 6. So I’m assuming you don’t even keep up with the games huh?

We are really banged up as well. Why depth is extremely important.

We have 2 weeks to prepare for Troy. We have a solid defense and good special teams. We also have a true freshman starting at QB that just had his best game. We're in this race.

1. USA......Kudos to anyone that puts that kind of beatdown on latech! and should have beaten UCLA.
2. JMU......Like most have said, that MTSU win is looking even better and I really don't care what the record is, winning AT App St is making a statement.
3. ULM......Why not? I think we can beat anyone in the league and we haven't even put it all together yet.
4. pick 'em
5. pick 'em
6. pick 'em
7. pick 'em
8. pick 'em
9. pick 'em
10. pick 'em
11. pick 'em
12. pick 'em
13. Texas St.....Navada loss looking worse than originally thought. They lost to Incarnate Word.
14. Georgia St.....They should be one of the top teams but they have to prove it on the field.

At this point in the season the East and West titles are up for grabs. USA and JMU are the current front runners but nothings a given this year.

Easy, it's just one guy's opinion. We're both mid pack, in an internet message board poll. That the top team, doesn't even win a cup of coffee.

RE: Sun Belt Power Rankings - Week 4
Unless I'm mistaken, I think most of the conference newbies are still misunderstanding the premise of this power ranking thread. The power ranking thread on Sunday as I've always understood it, is supposed to be more a reflection of the game the teams just played. It is suppose to be a lot more fluid than a typical rankings poll. So for instance, even if you think App is still the best team in the conference, they can't really be perceived as say 1st or 2nd at the moment because they just lost yesterday.

But hey, maybe I've misunderstood it for the last few years??

Yes. You've misunderstood. What you're referring to is a performance rating. The power ratings are how strong you think the teams are right now. Which SBC teams are better or worse than other SBC teams. But in fairness, anyone can interpret it how they like, it's not that serious.

For me, the game the teams just played are weighted higher that the previous games, but it's not the total weight of the rating. This is why many people would have Louisiana above ULM. The last three games tends to tell an accurate picture for most teams, meaning if Louisiana has another bad showing then ULM is probably just better overall.

Oh for sure....I dont take too much of anything here too seriously. You said it is a reflection of how strong you are at this particular moment, so I would guess that yesterday's games should definitely move the needle as much as anything else.

If you misunderstood I'm sure plenty of others have too - I have never understood a clear objective of this BS weekly thread.
