TMI I know but I delivered a nasty creature anally this morning after having to give myself an enema. I sweated out about a gallon of sweat and I felt like I'd been ten rounds with someone far better at it than me all day. I was in the bathroom over two hours in agony. I've had several surgeries and never had anything like that happen. I had to miss my PT and that sucks. I am determined to rock the PT and be back at work within a month.
I stopped taking the pain meds with a quickness, I don't need them and they contributed heavily to my situation this morning. I can already tell I'll be wishing I had done this surgery much sooner.
There is some liquid stuff you can buy in most stores called Magnesium citrate. Its clear as water and comes in a small 10 ounce bottle.
Drink at least half a bottle on a mostly empty stomach and a full glass of water behind it. I don't care how constipated you are after surgery it will loosen things up and give you pain free bowl movements.
Trust me on this, due to multiple abdominal surgeries I have a lot of experience with different laxatives. You can even chug the whole bottle down, at worst it will just give you diarrhea. Just drink plenty of water behind it.
You can even get back on you pains meds if you need to, this stuff will end constipation. It works a little slower if you have eaten a decent meal. It works fastest when you take it first thing in the morning before you eat.
You can buy it for about $1 at Wal-mart, Kroger and most grocery stores and Dollar stores. Have someone go pick you up a few bottles until you don't need it anymore.
I promise you can take your pain meds and not get locked up with this stuff And you will have pain free bowl movements.
Thanks but that enema did the trick! As far as the pain meds, if I'm not in agony I won't take them. I dislike them intensely and don't wish to become dependent on them.
Good advice Eric! Sorry about your own surgeries, I know it isn't easy and hope you are past them.

RE: I'm having a partial knee replacement...
I was curious so I dropped into this thread to see what could cause three pages of discussion about a knee replacement.
I see that it has devolved into tigerblue getting the forceps and delivering a mud log into the crapper.
I have nobody but myself to blame for this.

My brother had to do that with the Magnesium. It does work and it cleans out your system.

it's what they give you before a colonoscopy so they have a clean path but you have to drink mucho more water after it.
Glad to hear your feeling better Tiger Blue!
