To me VMI feels a lot like Elon. From Star News.

"The Keydets from the Southern Conference like to shoot 3-pointers. A lot of 3-pointers. Of the 1,852 shots this season, 1,016 of them (54.9 percent) came from beyond the arc, and they made 38.3 percent of them.

VMI had four players average in double figures scoring, led by 6-foot-11, 265-pound senior Jake Stephens at 19.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game and 58 total blocked shots. Kamdyn Curfman made 113 3-pointers on the season and averaged 15.6 points.

Around Stephens, however, VMI does not have a big lineup. Its other four starters are 5-foot-11, 6-foot, 6-foot-1 and 6-foot-5."

I like our chances in this one if we show up to play.

Right now ESPN gives vmi a 64.5% of winning. The line is even with the over/under at 150.5.

Does VMI still utilize that run n gun style I remember them utilizing? They used to score 90 a game and allow 110 back in the 2010s.

Nope not all. They run more of a Princeton style and shoot a lot of 3s. The run n gun style was instilled under Duggar Baucom who left to go to The Citadel in 2015. And he was actually just fired by the The Citadel last week after not having the same success he enjoyed at VMI.

Will be interesting to see if our lack of size hurts us here. With a big man at 6’11/260 and averaging 19/9 he will be a load

I’d assume he’ll be at the FT line a bit if VMI chooses to go inside to him regularly. I haven’t looked at his numbers from the gimme stripe.

79.3 from the stripe!
5 of their top 6 in minutes played are above 79% from the FT line, that is crazy good.

RE: #8 VMI - GAME 31 - CBI Round of 16
Losing in the 1st round of the CBI would be highly disappointing. If we're going to head to a tournament that's not the NCAA or NIT, only a win or multiple wins will make that trip worthwhile. A game like the Sam Houston St CIT game would be lousy.

As has been said earlier in the thread, we have only won one postseason game in our program's history. Time to change that on Sunday. I hope the guys come out motivated.

This is worse than playing at NU. They need to go back to higher seeds hosting at least they would get some fans

He’s not even there?!?!? I saw Harvey starting
Anyone have any info on why White didn’t make the trip? This team looks dramatically different without him next year hope he’s not going anywhere!!!!

I may be a minority here, but I’ll be glad when Sad Fornes is gone. His number of bad decisions and terrible shots and missed defensive assignments far outweighs the few good games shooting he had

Solid performance today. So I have to ask this question, we pressed more today than all year and it was very effective. Why didn’t we use it more?

Well, we accomplished what Towson couldn’t: Winning a postseason game!

Anybody see Samb and McGriff on bench? Hopefully I just missed seeing them.
