What about the N.I.T.?
A 23-9 record should be enough, eh?

No our peripherals are not good. That’s why we were constantly the underdog. Net , rip etc not great

RE: Hawks will play in CBI
I think its great that this UNCW team - with the kind of huge turnaround season they had - is playing on. Further, while the CAA Championship and NCAA tournament would obviously have been preferable, the truth is we would have gotten the kind of seed (my guess would have been a #15) that in all likelihood would have meant a one-and-done appearance.

The CBI gives us a chance to not only win that first game (a not insignificant point, given that - despite all the NCAA/NIT/CIT banners in Trask-- by my reckoning is something we have done exactly once in history) but to make a run.

I'm all for it. After two years of insanity with shutdowns, cancelled games, isolation, etc., this sounds like a fun week in a great location to close this chapter. 10 days to rest before the first game should give them all a chance to decompresss from the pressure and fatigue of the tournament as well. Maybe some of the new guys can get some court time as well in preparation for next year without some of our primary players.

It's like a minor bowl game in college football.

Let's try and end the season on a higher note.

It's incredibly difficult to get an at large even to the NIT

Furman has a NET ranking of 80, is #2 in the SoCon, and lost the championship game in OT on a miracle shot. Their reward will likely be the same as ours.

I wouldn't count on that at all. I'd suspect this is more about getting the Seniors another chance to play some games.

Let’s hope we show up this time compared to Keatts’ first year when we played Sam Houston State in the CIT and got blown out and some of the seniors looked checked out. That was an awkward way to end the season that year after surpassing expectations.

^^This^^

We need to go if the team wants to go and make serious noise. Going just to check the "we went to a postseason tournament" = No Bueno.

There will be some good mid majors available such as Furman, Bellarmine, Drake, Liberty and Winthrop

I hope that is give the young guys a chance to play more and get meaningful practice. If seniors want to opt out I am fine with that

I have to believe our seniors are better people than to walk away from the team.

Any postseason is better than none.
An extra week of practice. Extra game(s). A chance to compete. A chance to win. A chance to teach. It helps set and cement a winning, competitive culture if it happens year after year.
Go. Play. Win. Have fun.

Could this be the year we finally hang the coveted "CBI Champs" banner in Trask?

Scribehawk reports that UNCW, VMI, and UNCA are all playing in the CBI.

13 more teams to go.

Listen, 2/3 or so of all Division I Schools are going to be sitting at home after this weekend. I bet you not one of them would turn down a CBI Championship banner.

So yes, it's coveted.....

Wofford is actually playing in “The Basketball Classic” which used to be the CIT. Troy, VMI, and Boston University have accepted bids to play in the CBI though.
