Please destroy these guys. One of the most elitist fan bases I've ever met and they have 0 reason to be. Theyre super pathetic too as they tried to back out of our bham match up
BC is a Jesuit institution so the elitist mentality is not surprising.
The highschool I went to sends some people up there regularly. Unfortunately I've met a few too many BC people
I'm not going to argue the institutional elitism (and perhaps I live in a glass house).
But relative to their football fanbase, I have no love lost nor pity for them...we played them in the 2006 Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte (subsequently Belk's Bowl, now Duke's Mayo Bowl). I got on their message boards looking for good conversation prior to the game.
First point - what a deluded fanbase. They don't show at home, and they definitely don't travel for bowls. In '06, when there was more of a pecking order for bowls to pick in order from conference eligibles, the ACC had already instituted the rule that bowls couldn't pick more than a full game lower in conference W-L record - this was widely referred to as "the BC rule" because bowls didn't want them because they didn't show up. Even with this rule in place, they were consistently picked as low as the rule allowed. The response on the fan boards was "Once again, a bowl that is beneath us, we should all boycott!" They never learned the first rule of holes: when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
Second point - those message boards were toxic. It seemed like a norm to wish dying of "ass cancer" on anyone with whom one disagreed. Haven't been back since, even out of morbid curiousity.
Sadly, we had the ball and the lead in the late fourth quarter, driving to seal it and had a fumbled pitch. Their walk-on kicker Apanavicious hit a clutch last second field goal to beat us.
