Yep. 5 years and 4 bowls.
Just seemed like yesterday he was the new kid on the block. Time flies.

If Jamey Chadwell goes anywhere 8 of the current 10 football members will have a first or second-year coach.

You can take Pruett off your list. If not for ESPN reporting him taking the Houston job in 1998 before he got back to WV to get Elsie, he would have been gone. He got caught with his pants down at Yeager and back tracked. The truth is if we would have had an AD and president with a spine they should have fired him on the tarmack. As he took a black flight to Houston and didn't inform Marshall. Stevie Wonder or Ray Charles could have coached the 1999 team and done just as good.

I would think LSU will give Hugh Freeze a hard look. Yes, I know he has had off-field issues, but that won't matter at LSU. If LSU has a scandal, the NCAA will drop the hammer on ULM.

Meh...next year the Louisiana Cupboard isn't nearly as full as it has been the past few years. Career wise, it's a good time to leave. He did well at ULL, but it feels like he knows next year will keep him at ULL for much longer.

To be fair, with FSU and Miami down, if you can’t win 11 games in your 2nd year you DESERVE to be fired from Florida.

He lost his last 3 games. I think he was distracted by his new contract details. He has a cushy gig. $4 million at a G5 school in a conference they should absolutely dominate and get 7 wins out of each year and a couple more in OOC. Why in the heck move from that?

Not to mention how weak the SEC East is, really shouldn't be losing to anyone except Georgia currently. Of course we'll see how soon the Texas/Oklahoma move ends up happening, but still.
The big hurdle for any early success though is Mullen's terrible recruiting plus some of the top commits flipped when Mullen really started to fall apart.

No way. Napier will be successful in Florida. It will take a little time.

We still have plenty of talent coming back. Basically the entire offense except for Levi and Max Mitchell will be returning. We will lose more on defense than offense but we rotate in a lot of guys on defense, so it’s not like the 2nd string is a bunch of bums. Unless we lose a bunch of guys to the portal, any decent hire will have us bowl eligible next year. I’d say 7-9 win range, and depending on if the west stays weak, probably competing for the division again next year.

BTW, UL did offer to bump up Napier’s salary to 3.2 million. Don’t blame him for taking the new gig, but glad to know we did our best to try to stop him.

Yeah, forgot about Vallot on offense. Marks hasn’t been that great this year, I think you see improvement with his replacement, or at least no significant drop off. And I know your thoughts on Levi and who sits behind him. The rest of the guys listed on offense only play sparingly, or in the case of the WRs, lots of depth at that position.
Like I said, those names on defense are a much bigger loss. But the cupboard is far from bare!
