Their QB was 11 for 27 (41%) and they did not score an offensive TD. D played well. Just needed them to score 2 TDs

I liked the uniforms. Trying to say something positive, but that’s all I got.

Agreed. He should sit at least 1 whole game. Candle needs to take penalties seriously. And you do that by making penalties result in personal consequences to the offenders.

Koback has looked to me stuck in mud all season. Slow to get to speed. Part of last season too. He doesn't appear the same to me as when he first came.

CSU did expose our line, something ND didn't really do. Too many unforced penalties of OL. The block in the back was heart breaking. Completely unnecessary and takes away a TD.

I can think of many years where this loss would wear me down but not this. I don't think I had particularly high expectations. It's clear to me the talent is there. A bit too thin on OL and as I recall, didn't we have a pre-season injury.... again? I'd like to know the practice injury rate under Candle versus in general. Are they all so high?

The only response to that game was embarrassing. When you can't run the football, everyone knows what is coming. Our whole offensive execution looks like its in slow-mo. We are forced to pass and our OL can't sustain any type of pass rush. Kobak doesn't run behind his pads and a puff of air takes him down. Our rush numbers are appalling. We don't use our tight ends. There us nothing positive to say on offense. The D is pretty tough, but the offense dug holes for them all night.

There were also a handful of drops by the receivers today.

I just can't believe how bad the run game was today. Although it was not good last week either, except for the one long run by Koback later in the game (run game was also unimpressive against Norfolkin Way University) so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

I don't even know what that was. A hot mess maybe?

I agree about Kobak. It's so strange to not have a back who can get us a couple of yards. We have had 20 yrs of pretty darn good tailbacks way back to Wasean Tait. The fumbled exchange between Bradley and Koback killed any chance at a comeback. It just added insult to injury for a long afternoon.

Was seriously considering going to Muncie next week. That ain’t happening. Going to be hard enough to attend future games this season in the Glass Bowl. Too many other things that we could be doing. This has driven me to watch HGTV…

It's a shame that the defense played well all game, and the O just couldn't move the ball. You can't beat many teams without a respectable run game. Dropped balls, missed blocks, no push, and too many penalties again. Maybe they left some of that focus and energy in South Bend, but they better find if fast. An offense like this will not beat Ball State, Western Michigan, or maybe even CMU. Toledo doesn't really have a back who break tackles and a big run at the same time.

I think this was only the second time I have walked out of a game before it was over. These guys played so good last week and nothing this week. We’re we just so sure of ourselves that we didn’t play at 100%? Unbelievable anyway you look at it. And coach has to stop these stupid penalties. First play of the game, and on and on and we go.

I’ve changed my mind. This isn’t an 8-4 team. Will be lucky to finish 6-6. When a team like Colorado State can expose your weaknesses so easily and you yourself have trouble mentally playing 60 minutes in a game, you are striving to be mediocre at best. Notre Dame game must have been a fluke—at least a win there would have given us SOMETHING this season.

If this team does finish no better than 6-6, Candle should do the honorable thing and resign, rather than make Toledo fire him & pay his ridiculous buy-out. I think the O’Brien’s head coaching experiment with Candle had run its course. This program is stuck when it should be getting better. I’m sure Candle could latch on as an assistant coach somewhere else, and that may be his true niche.
