Quote:That's no longer the case and if they continue to not come up with their own ideals to help what is the majority of this country deal with 3 basic needs...
meds

They will never win another election that the democrats just don't f'it up so bad. Because like it or not and even if it's not true the democrats have enough history to paint republicans into that picture. Then lie enough to make that large voting block think they care about them. While a majority of those hate the special interest just as much as republicans. Meds, Food, and shelter will out weight that dislike 10 to 1

There are good conservative ideas to address all three. Bismarck health care, and Milton Friedman's negative income tax or the Boortz-Linder prebate/prefund. Bismarck, Friedman, Boortz, and Linder would all be considered conservatives (the latter three with libertarian leanings).

Include them in the republican platform, and do some Ross Perot power points to explain them fully, and how they would work. Blacks and Hispanics already tend toward social conservatism, because of their religious beliefs. Appeal to their food, shelter, and medical needs with programs that also offer a hand up instead of a handout.

You can do this, republicans, but you need to replace your current leaders. And with the right approach on issues, you don't need Donald Trump.

what we/pubs need are folk like you to run…

I agree with all the above….it goes deeper in solution, but we and too many others know why that will never happen…

that’s the real shame…

hence, politics…

One nice thing about those particular approaches is that they basically butt the government out of our lives. They pretty much run in automatic, so no need for the legion of "social workers" that our current welfare systems require. Under those approaches, the value of a degree in sociology or social work would decrease dramatically. That's a feature, not a bug. Because of the way they are structured, they also do not impose the "welfare trap" restrictions that block the way up out of poverty for many of our poor. They are basically capitalism with a safety net or floor, and the savings on bureaucrat salaries go a long way toward paying for them.

Yep, I'd favor eliminating ALL forms of welfare before I'd support that. The exception would be in cases where people literally can't care of themselves (ie, orphans, disabled, elderly, etc). Don't want to work? Oh well I guess you'll starve.

RE: Malaise
The problem is that you can't do anything unless you win elections. And WKUYG's point was that you can't win elections if you don't address those three areas. You can say, "No something for nothing," but those people getting handouts also vote, as do a number of bleeding hearts, and if you give away that many votes you can't win. Cheating or not, you lose the election, and you can't do anything.

You're right which is why I'm basically done with society.
