I’ve read that Taco Bell is probably the healthiest “fast food” restaurant out there.
My cat loves taco bell. That's the only people food she'll eat.

Bottom line...You can't make a profit on dollar menu items.....when you have pay burger flippers $15 per hour. I have a neighbor that owns 2 McDonalds locations. He predicted automation and this would happen the second the wage justice warriors started their crusades.

I'm pretty certain the board predicted this regardless of wages...
burger flipper is only iconic in the land of warhol's quicksand...

This place has predicted everything that is happening.

Hey, I wonder if that means something.
Be careful, a cat can become diabetic very easy if they eat bread or pasta. Their body does not react well and the older they get the worse it is.

Not to mention that several of them turned into things like "The $1.29 Menu" many years ago. I believe Wendy's went from $.99 to $1.29 in like 2006 and then included several items costing $1.99 in like 2013.

As I'm sure you aware, the dollar menu was nothing more than your traditional sales "loss leader." A lower price option to "get you in the door" that often lost them money so they can upsell you on more expensive items.
It's Sales 101. Been happening for decades.

But an effective loss leader has to generate sufficient upselling to justify the losses. And there is a limit to how much loss they can generate. At $15/hour wages and tight margins to begin with, the economics simply don't work.

Yep, this is simply economic, loss leader or not. That was just an attempt to deflect from the wage increase anyway.

Maybe it's a good thing. Perhaps it'll cut down on the number of fat people. Now they'll start eating healthy.
Bwahahahahaha, I was being sarcastic. Lazy people will not go near a stove and fix a meal, it's easier to go through the drive thru.
In some of the urban neighborhoods around Louisville there are “food deserts”. Many of the corner markets don’t even have fresh produce sections.
This. Even in Tulsa, on the north side of town, it's been considered a food desert for a long time. They've tried on a few occasions to open a grocery store in north Tulsa, but every single one has gone out of business in short order, due to rampant theft and crime.
They just opened another one, recently. I hope it makes it, but I'm skeptical.

Most FF places are already paying workers around $10-11 per hour now if they have any sort of time on the job. And the $15 per hour targets are always for several years out...meaning a gradual price increase to go along with gradual wage increases.
Understandable given that almost every one I drive by on the way to work have signs up stating "Help Wanted - $13.50 an hour for kitchen workers, 17 something for shift leaders".
I saw a McDonalds sign the other day that said "Help Wanted $10 Hr". lol....I suspect that sign will be up for a long long time.

A rising tide lifts all boats.
Target and Walmart, which offer better working conditions than a hot greasy kitchen--have been paying $15 to start for a while now.

While eating fast food isn’t cheap and its certainly not good for you, eating healthy at home is even more expensive. That makes it even more difficult for poor folks to eat right.
I can only speak for Metro Louisville but vegetables are expensive here more than half the year. From October to May fruits and vegetables are trucked or railed in.
In the late Spring, through Summer and early Fall, you can get locally grown produce reasonably priced but that source isn’t available all the time.
In some of the urban neighborhoods around Louisville there are “food deserts”. Many of the corner markets don’t even have fresh produce sections.
It’s going to be a tough cycle to break when generation after generation of poor families have celebrated payday by taking the kids to McDonald’s for a Happy Meal.
This is baloney.
It is much cheaper to make yourself spaghetti & meatballs than to buy fast food. And healthier.
I used to house foreign exchange students for an ESL program (foreign kids learning English in the USA to prep for entering a US university). They paid me $400 a month to provide 2 meals a day. Most of the time I cooked for them because they liked it better than most takeout. After a few months I discovered that it only cost me about $100 a month per student - far less than the $400 they were paying me. So I started taking them to KFC once a week (all the Chinese students loved KFC for some reason).
If you're super poor: potatoes contain everything your body needs except calcium, vitamin D, and vitamin A. Potatoes are 1/3 the price today that they were 20 years ago (I used to buy them whenever they went on sale for $1 a pound, and today the regular price is $3.29 for 10 lbs). You could cut your food bill to $15 a week if you ate only baked potatoes with an occasional cup of milk. It would get old after awhile, but you'd be perfectly healthy.
And the concept of "food desserts" is leftist nonsense. For example: Google tells me the only place in greater Louisville that is farther than 2 miles from a Kroger is in a neighborhood called Rubbertown - and as the name implies, it's an industrial area with very few houses.
Most of the people talking about food desserts ignore any store not owned by a large national chain. And they also ignore grocers that serve poor people like Save-a-Lot (probably because it doesn't fit their narrative).
