the all important buyout. well with a 7 year deal, it must be significant.

Nice for him but the only thing that matters is if the buy out can hold off AAC and P5 teams. He repeats this next year he is likely gone. His resume is outstanding.

I remember when Satt signed his extension in September.

He was gone in December.

Rumor has it he will now be atop of the Sun Belt in salary.

Wommack signed at South for $700k with another $1.35mil for 9 coaches. The salaries in the SBC have sure jumped over the last few years.

I was just going off what I read in a very quick search. I would hope he has a full stable of coaches, and some of those “consultants” like Alabama likes to keep around.

P6, here we come.

From what I read, Chadwell will only be the highest paid in the Sun Belt if he hits all of his performance criteria. To me that says his base salary is somewhere around 850k, which would put his buyout to around $5.5 million. $5 million is a good number, it's not enough to scare away big schools but it would be a pretty healthy parting gift whenever it happens. He's worth it.

I think the last I read said the average buyout was about 65% of remaining value, for football coaches. I’m sure it goes higher, as salaries/desirable contracts do.

As for raw salary, we haven’t heard numbers yet. But the apples to apples comparison of “salary + incentives” would make him higher than anyone else’s similar package. I’m guessing he’s not #1 on salary alone.
