RE: 2020 Football schedules released
These schedules look a lot tougher with just taking UConn out.

RE: 2020 Football schedules released
How do you think we will determine who is in the championship game? Records? Top 2 in CFP rankings? Some combination of the two?

I think they will go with the two best overall records in conference play. If unable to determine who those are due to ties, the tiebreaker will be who has the best ranking in either the CFP or AP polls, rather than going strictly by head to head tiebreakers. The AAC wants the two highest ranking teams in CFP poll to meet in champ game.

Hmm...at Memphis with most of our current team returning, including Brady White, Gainwell and Gibson.

Prepare to have that winning streak broken. :)

It's bound to happen at some point, right?

Not sure what I think about missing out on ECU and Tulsa next season. I was looking forward to them getting over the hump next season and being bowl eligible teams. I have no idea what they're returning rosters look like, though.
Tulsa will return almost everyone on offense. The OL this year is all freshmen and sophomores. Defense loses quite a bit. Hopefully we have good backups in those positions.

Maybe without Norvelle. I have not read the rest of the thread if posted already.

I would like to see a lot more UCF games against Houston. I would see UCF live a lot more often.

I like it! Upgrade to Navy and Memphis the next two years. Means we’ll play the Tigers four times in 3 years.

Now that my school seems to be getting more competitive...I might have to take in the ECU @ Temple game.

I expected this...yet again, but not this early.

????

Wasn't referring to you specifically. Just pointing out that our fanbase always marks Temple down as a win in preseason predictions year after year, despite the fact that we've never beaten them in conference.

Dumb question, but is this allowed? I mean, I guess the conference can do what they want to an extent, but it seems like if there are rules around what you have to do to have a CCG, it seems like there would be a fence around what criteria you can use.

Shorter version, can you use an outside reference (AP/committee voting) to determine your conference championship opponents?

Short answer is yes, you can use an outside source to determine who goes to the CCG. The American has the CFP as one of its current tiebreakers.

Umm...but no, I didn't say it was a definite win or anything of the sort...I just happen to live 26 miles East of the Lincoln Financial Field, so it will more than likely be the first ECU game I can catch since I lived in Central Florida...back during the Skip Holtz era.

2020 Football schedules released
So another dumb question. I wonder what’s going to happen with rivalry week in 2020 and 2021. We have 11 teams, so 1 of them is out an opponent on the final week of the regular season. None of us have a traditional OOC opponent like SC-Clemson or Louisville-Kentucky to help.

I assume all FBS teams will be locked up. Not sure if it’s a significant week for FCS.

Will one of us just get a bye? Does anyone else currently have a bye for that week? That won’t feel right.

Inevitable when a team that has lost 18 conference games in a row is leaving.

The scheduling formula isn’t 100% perfect but it’s about the best that could be done on short notice. It’s just for a short while.

It’ll probably be Navy since they play Army a different week.

First off, that is the best way to do it (CFP rank as first tiebreaker) and probably how it will be done.

Here’s another way to do it that would reward those who might have played a tougher schedule:
1 point for each win
+.1 points for each win anyone you beat gets
+.3 points for each road conference win

Kinda like RPI but slightly easier to follow.

CFP makes the most sense but be ready to go crazy trying to follow their ranking logic.
