If so they only have 3 FBS games scheduled and 1 FCS. They are not going to have anyone to ply so either UConn is folding it’s football program at the end of the year or going FCS and just scheduling a transit year full of FCS and D2 schools or they are expecting to still play the games against the American teams on their schedule but just as non conference games.

They can try to use being in the Big East in basketball gives UCONN the opportunity to negotiate with the AAC for limited games against the conference to try to fill their schedule but the pickings look slim. If they schedule home/home basketball, say against Temple for example, they may be able to squeeze a football game in as well.

That said, I predict the end of their FBS program, at least for the time being.

Wouldn't UConn have to pay a lot of money to play FCS schools? Then again that could be offset with all 8 of those being home games. That would be a total of 10 home games. Not bad, not bad at all.

I think they'll have to sweeten the deal to fill out there 2020 football schedule. Maybe promise Liberty and New Mexico State some basketball games to make it worth it. But they are in quite a bind on the football side. Don't know what happened to all those P5 teams they were going to bring in next year.

I think this mess needs a name, like Brexit. Huskys + exit = Hexit.

The Hexit debacle.

Anyone know what happened to the Civil Conflict trophy? Last I heard it was left on the field by UCF and a UConn manager had to run back on the field and get it. Never spotted after that?

Close. They are going to have to pay pairs of teams that already have games scheduled with one another to ditch the currently agreed upon game---and instead let UConn replace that game on both teams schedule. Thats not going to be cheap---but thats how Liberty put together a full schedule so quickly. Its going to cost UConn a more than a few bucks because they have to make changing an already scheduled game in order to play UConn financially attractive enough to be worth the trouble.

Home games at UConn don't produce the same payout as home games for UCF.

Not a penny. They'll let the Connecticut taxpayers do that.

Bad comparison. Brexit voters didn't want unrestricted entry into their country while UConn is desperate for warm bodies into their world.

I don't think UConn is going to drop football entirely, but I do think their football program is on its way to FCS. I don't think they'll make the drop in 2020, but I think it is coming within the next 5 years. It's hard for me to believe that they would have any desire to continue as an FBS independent. They're taking a big hit in the wallet for men's basketball.

Uconn home games aren't at home.

I love it. Brilliant. May I suggest an improvement to better encapsulate the 'outward movement' happening?

I suggest 'The Hexcrement'

or maybe 'The Huskrement'
