Update: Many of the liberal art folks are grabbing pitch forks. I can understand some of the frustration to an extent. Some of it I can't. TU probably could have handled it better. I will say that.
I wonder how us ENS peeps would react if it were our stufff getting cut. (Geology is getting cut I believe. Haven't seen anyone throwing rocks yet.)
It's some liberal arts folks, some people who think it will hurt our high overall level of basic education, a group who thinks it cut too much, and then those that are upset with how they did it.
Some has to go, it wasn't the worst roll out ever but it could have been done much better, it's probably a little too deep, and we need to be careful not to do any permanent damage.
I am slowly joining the group who is concerned we will lose some of the high level instruction it seems every class comes with. If we don't have a theater program how good will theater class be? Or philosophy. There is some tradition and roots of the school.involved here to. I would prefer if we kept the Native American law stuff, I always cringe when we cut anything that deals with that. It's a turning away from our founding and I don't like it.
Really I would think we would go out of our way to strengthen our ties to the five civilized tribes for multiple and painfully obvious reasons.
I feel similarly about the Native American law. But maybe that's because I know a law student who just received a scholarship as a Native American to study that at TU. It's a hard decision.
And then there's some people questioning the athletics dept. So Gragg is basically getting it from both sides. The man has few friends.

TU should cut 61 athletic programs to match.

RE: Off Season Football News
So back to Football....I think Zack Smith will be our QB starter at Tulsa. The Baylor transfer dropped 2 60 yard bombs for TD's right over the middle. Keylon Stokes (WR) did a good job of just straight up beating the Safeties.
Those were probably 2 of the top 5 passes I've seen at Tulsa since Dane Evans left. That's 2 seasons and 3 spring games worth of passes. The WR's should take a step forward as well this season.
The biggest question mark is the Oline (replacing 3 starters). They held up decent against our defense during the spring game, and our defense should be one of the best in the conference this year.

I am going to sell that the Tulsa defense is going to be good. The past two seasons they have been miserable against the run.
I think actual QB play will cause them to shock a few teams. 4 or 5 wins makes sense. They'll derail someone's bowl bid this season.

Heck, we derailed somebody's bowl bid last season. #No MoPonyUpTempo

See? None of that is necessary.
Here is what our Spring Game crowd looked like. How about yours? (Especially talking to YOU, Hitachi State)
And BTWs... That was around 6:45pm on a Friday. It got more full as the night went on.
I can see why. Great product
I'm thinkin' that must be against the AUP. But I'll take it. Especially that one on the left...

1 major for every ~22 students on campus...that is insane.

That's what I thought. Even knowing that the number will obviously be smaller because we're private, and we have small class sizes on purpose, but that number is pretty crazy. For reference, my graduating class of Mechanical Engineering students had about 40 to 50 people in it. Not a bad number for a small private school. But when you have majors with 1 or 2 or 5 graduates in it, is it really worth it?

Gotta rip the bandaid off. When you slowly eliminate things over a long period of time it actually probably does more damage.
