I saw a great conference framework put together after realignment. Navy, UH, Cinci, UCF, USF, Memphis, Temple... ECU with a big fanbase. Best of cUSA rising stars, Big East remnants. Big city metro areas great for growing, quality destinations. Big city schools with large student bodies. Investment in facilities. I knew this could be a great conference.

Then, because of alleged further alignment, I saw the members (not all, but a few) tear themselves apart from within. You had 'fans' of these schools live on this forum denigrating the 'dumpster fire' of a conference WHERE THEIR STUDENT ATHLETES COMPETED. Unbelievable. Of course, it was all a farce and there was not further realignment... but the damage hurt our brand and cost us value in our contract.

Then something magical happened... the new conference absolutely took off! 3X major bowl wins, great record against the P5, solid attendance, remarkable ratings. Poised for huge gains as we renegotiate the next TV deal. If we get bigger money, next round could be poised for a contract bowl maybe, P6 maybe... who knows, but we are definitely fighting and on the right road. It's a best case success scenario beyond what any of us dreamed!

And timely and expected, when it's time to renegotiate our next TV deal, here comes via the GOR nonsense... signs that we'll tear ourselves apart again, and cost ourselves millions. With ESPN laughing itself silly.

For Gods sake folks, sign a short GOR so we get MAXIMAL value. That will help with bowls, perception, respect, and everything else. What ESPN and the P5 WANT is for us to get minimal value and 'stay down'. The P5 ain't taking anyone anytime soon. Realize it and work together.

None of this matters because none of these schools end goal is the AAC and everyone wants to be in position if the opportunity to move up comes. Should've been obvious no one would be interested in signing a GOR.

But that's the point for a short-term GOR because there is no chance to move up until the P-5 contracts are to be renewed.
