LMAO... you're crying to a conference that has had this happen to them for decades. App got VERY lucky with long term coaches in Moore, and even Satt stuck around longer than average.

That said. I hope yall find the next Tyson Summers. Yall are due. 04-cheers

We will be fine. People actually want to live in the Blue Ridge Mountains as opposed to Statesboro.

Census data for Boone and Statesboro prove otherwise.

The situation is pretty interesting though. With Charlotte hiring JMU's coach and Satterfield leaving App, the winter is coming.....

At this point, I wouldn't mind cutting the stadium renovations to keep Satt. We can deal with people laughing about our track for a few more years to keep a dominating team.

I certainly appreciate all Scott has done and would be happy if he stayed, but I graduated from Appalachian State, not the University of Scott Satterfield.

I don’t think you are being serious but the highest G5 salary is Memphis at 2.6 mil and the highest in the SBC is 850k.

Cool story bro.

Louisville is P5.

I understand that im probably talking out of pure emotion at this point, but I don't really care. What im worried about is replacing him. Regardless of how good we've looked in the move up to FBS, we still aren't taken seriously enough to find good coaching replacements. The talent on this team is phenomenal, and we don't have time for a transition year.

We will be fine. This is just a part of being successful that we have to deal with. There are only like, 6 schools in college football. that don’t have to worry about having their guy poached. Is what it is. We have a culture of winning, that doesn’t leave with satterfield.

Difference between us and some other belt teams that i mentioned a couple .months ago stand, our program isnt built on one leg, we have an ad and a president that are both competent and passionate about football, all that being said if this does turn out to be him going, I'm gonna be bummed by the possibility wasted for next season unless we manage to keep someone with experience with this group of kids.

I thought satterfield was never going to leave because he loves Boone and doesn't care about money?

One doesn't spend most of his adult life in a place if he doesn't have an affinity for it. And I don't think money is the primary motivator for him. But, that doesn't guarantee that he wont leave for a different challenge. The UL job seems to carry some pitfalls but who knows, he may see that as a great opportunity and take it if offered. I wouldn't be shocked if he did but I don't think it's a foregone conclusion.

So everyone is right to pop the popcorn and watch this one unfold. Couple things to keep in mind is that Satt makes $750k-800k/year base plus retention bonus. With incentives and payments to Satt Inc. for speaking and advertising he is knocking on $950k-1m at AppState. Wouldn’t take much for App to get him to $1.2m-1.5 per year.

Couple of things about UL: they won’t pay Brohm money for Satt. I’m thinking no more than $1.7-2m. Key is if they will guarantee a multi year deal? I’m sure Satt will look for 5 years. Don’t know if UL will agree to that. Some may laugh this next piece off, but it’s definitely a factor to a man like Satt: UL doesn’t know him, and has no relationship or ties to him. He is not UL’s first choice. Twitter is awash with UL alums that think they can do better than Satt. Timing is not the best for Satts family. His oldest will be a senior next year and is a stud on the varsity football team that’s in the playoffs. That being said: Satt will listen.

If Satt gets $2m and a multi year commitment, then the risk is worth it and he is gone. One last tidbit: UNCC does not have thier new coach secured. There is a reason for that. No doubt our AD has a couple of folks lined up both inside and outside the AppStste circle. Remember that Doug Gillin came from the SEC. AppState is a cherry job. We will have lots of great choices, and it will happen fast.

Houston, even if available, will not be the coach at App. It'll be someone from the family tree.

You are showing signs of hysteria. Losing Scott isn't the end of the world. Seems a lot of people have forgotten about all the folks who wanted him gone after his first year. He's not the only good coach around. We'll be fine.

Sun will rise with or without Satterfield in Boone. App will be fine with the talent on the roster.

People will come busting down Gillin's door for the head coaching job at App.
