Basically, you can't really determine anything from this, other than Clemson is hella good. We're not really consistent across the board.

Actually you can. Your rush yards per carry are nearly half of what they are when facing 100th or worse ranked rush defenses.

When facing 100th or worse rush defenses: 6.5 yards per rush
When facing 99th or better rush defenses: 3.4 yards per rush

That looks pretty significant to me. If Monroe and Texas State can hold you to 3.1 yards per rush, I'm confident Troy can get you in the 2s. You won't beat Troy with those numbers.

Yea but against a defense statistically better than both of those, we blew their season average.

Like I said, inconsistent.

I think a common thread that you both may be overlooking is we just are not the same team on the road this year as we are at home. Doesn't matter who we are playing.

At Home:
+2.2 ypp better than our opponents

On the Road:
-2.5 ypp worse than our opponents

Our offense is +3.1 ypp better at home than on the road
Our defense is +1.65 ypp better at home than on the road

That's not coincidence.

Very good point. Granted, Clemson is skewing our numbers a bit, but we haven't played well on the road at all.

We've also been playing in dead ass stadiums that sucked the life out of everything there, and all of our games other than Clemson have been in Louisiana, Texas, or New Mexico. Our early road slate was rough. 3 games across the Mississippi in 4 weeks is draining on anyone.

Coastal and Gast being bus trips will help be a bit more manageable.

Should be an excellent game and likely a defensive battle. Guess I'm a Troy fan for a day. If Paulson can create the energy of a certain Thursday night game then Troy will have there hands full. 03-nutkick

What's the official injury report for you guys?

Fans are severely butthurt, the players and coaches are dazed and confused, have bruised egos their **** stinks again.

I have no idea why ULM plays us like it is the last game they will ever play but FIDO. We also seem to do well against Troy so far even when we are not supposed so far.

After the ULM debacle Troy should be easily the favorite as the ULM tape is obviously a blue print on how to score at will. Sloan obviously needs to adapt quickly.

Georgia Southern only scored 10 offensive points against ULM?

A field goal and a touchdown four minutes apart late in the second quarter. Shut out offensively for three quarters. Gave us a nice little blueprint to look over before Saturday's game.

I looked at the play-by-play. That's honestly about the output I would've expected during the App game had Thomas not been concussed and Fehr not been subject to a dumb rule of tackling a jumping little guy.

I imagine that if your guys are healthy and the offense can convert first downs on some drawn out drives, you should win. Primary thing against a running team like Southern is to get points when you have the chance. Nothing wrong with field goals and punting deep in a game like this.

Though I am biased because I'd like to see the App State and Troy game possibly get bumped to an ESPN slot. If App gets back to their winning big ways, as they did last season in the last few weeks, they should begin receiving votes in the AP again by that last week, so long as starters stay healthy. If Troy beats Southern in convincing fashion they will likely receive votes in the coaches or AP Poll as well.

Not as good as having two ranked teams like it appears the MWC is poised to have for their championship game but it would be fun to watch with so much on the line.

So Thomas plays defense too?

The implication is clear: ULM has a much better defense than App.

RE: Troy vs GS thread
Something I noticed and pointed out on our board:

Last year App State held the highest-scoring MAC offense and the #2 ACC offense to a combined 20 points. Their two worst days on defense were against ULM and NMSU. Guess which two teams (besides Clemson) we have given up the most points to? ULM and NMSU.

Doesn't seem as likely to me that defenses just had off days against the same 2 opponents. Seems like that would indicate it's a schematic issue.. For better or worse our defense may have just become a carbon copy of App's, except App's linebackers are better and our defensive front is better.

App is that pyscho girl you hooked up with on a Thursday night but doesn't understand it was a one time thing.

"Look, that Thursday was fun, but I don't need you showing up to every party I'm at anymore. You need to move on. It's me not you."
