RE: Maryland Coaching Vacancy
I don't think PJ gets canned, and that's been my position since AD Stansbury sent out the letter to A-T donors and season ticket holders. If GT completely imploded and finished the season with 3 or 4 wins it would have forced Stansbury's hand. But it looks like they'll limp to a bowl at .500 which would mean retention for PJ. And as always beating UGAg is a get out of jail free card. You could finish 1-10 so long as the 1 is against UGAg and you'll be retained.

If GT were to make a change in the near future ... the short list is probably George Godsey, Brent Key, Mike McIntyre, Ken Whisenhunt, and Scott Satterfield. Nate Woody is a wild card that greatly strengthens Satterfield's case so long as he keeps improving the defense. While the defensive improvement doesn't always translate to the scoreboard ... this is the first season in almost a decade where GT has a real pass rush. Weirdly having PJ stick around another year is a mixed bag for App State fans. PJ's problem has always been no damned defense ... not even a semblance of one. If Woody (pause of lol of Woody-Johnson coaching) is able to field a real defense it might be the missing piece after all these years. If it isn't ... it sure does make it a lot easier to take a flyer on a HC from a smaller school in NC. Something almost unthinkable given what Bill Lewis out of ECU did to a championship program in just 2 seasons.

Oliver looks to me like the QB you've been waiting for. If you can just find the all-ACC back for the B-back position you can wreck almost any defense in college football.

Also, I think choosing a pro-style coach would be a really, really bad idea for Tech. It would create several years of growing pains and it's just a garbage, inferior offense system even if you can sign future early-round draft pick QBs ever years. I would definitely choose Satterfield over any of those other guys.
