Last year on Monday of non hate this is not a rivaly week , I am in the aisle by my desk having a stand up meeting with co-workers and this GS grad from another department makes a point to walk down my aisle and announce to me "you get nothing from me this week. Its hate week!" and keep walking. The other people in the aisle all from India were loking at each other puzzled like what.is.happening.?

So yeah, absolutely nothing to see here.

And what city is your work location?
Atlanta

Have you been to a Southern-State basketball game and seen the atmosphere?
Yeah exactly. This has been a thing pre football just like Mercer hates us since the stone age.

The smack talk on this board is media driven. Paulson Stadium North... was media driven. ok doke... Pull up the boots boys, it is getting thick. Why don't y'all find another ticket promotion none of us for GSU can find? Because... there is no rivalry.

Honestly, it doesn't mater if State wins 5 SBC championships the next 10 years or if they only have 2 winning seasons...Southern-State checks almost every box on the checklist of characteristics of a rivalry. It doesn't have to be 2 programs with the same number of historical accomplishments.

RE: Attendance week 5
yeah, it's not a rivalry.

that's why:
We get 10k+ going to the game when it's in Atlanta
Every thread in which GS/GSU comes up, no matter the thread topic, it blows up (see this thread)
the players view it as a rivalry

If you have to convince yourself so hard that it is not..... it probably is.

I'm glad Panther fans are paying so close attention to our record this year. 3-1 so far this season sure does feel great! Thanks for noticing 04-cheers

Like your out of conference performance?
07pantheralum already won this thread. You can of course apply for a recount.

A panther giving another panther a win is about as lame as giving out rings for a losing season....oh wait..... 07-coffee3

Losing the last two got the last staff out and a real OC in you actually help advance the program instead of stringing out a contract with a moron as HC. Sucks to lose especially to an instate team but two steps back lead to 10 forward in this case.

Our attendance sucked as the students did not show, that thUGA bandwagon is having an affect and so did the score with Clemson.

Asides from the whole State/Southern stuff, the amount of people that show up to State's games is embarrassing. Even worse when you have 800 people at the game and report it as 14k. I mean we get it, tickets sold but c'mon. The more important question here is, who on earth is buying 12,000 tickets that they aren't using? I'm giving the benefit of the doubt with 2k people there on Saturday and I think that's being generous. The school?

Like I said, there’s a large Alumni population that reside in the suburbs of Atlanta and attend one Southern game every other year at Georgia Dome. It’s convenient for this part of the alumni base. If Southern was playing GT every other yr in Atlanta, the turn out would be exactly the same. It’s not about Georgia State, it’s more about convience.

G state needs to come up with something that folks can identify with. The right coach could do it. Winning alone may not do it.

Or don't start games at 2 PM in Atlanta in Sept and October.

It should be mandated that all games in September be played in the evenings. It's too dang hot for day games.

But I know that many students aren't claiming tickets and just not showing up. Has to be either the school or some booster donating money for those tickets to be purchased.

I saw this on twitter and had to LOL at it -

Quote:GS fans defending half empty Paulson: yea I think something was up with the ticket scanners or something

Also GS fans: I’ve taken screen grabs from every angle of GSU stadium and I counted 19,458 people for the Kennesaw game and I demand a correction

You could start at 6 and its not going to make that significant of a difference. Southern's homecoming is at 3:30 this weekend. 20k people will show up, because of the experience. The passion, the fan base, and hey, we might actually win another game this year.

The sad thing is that despite a 30 year head start in football and 6 NC you received a FBS invite after us and you are only drawing marginally better than us. Oh and there's that 3-1 thing too.

It's amazing how as soon as we got rid of the AD and President that not only didn't want to go FBS, but openly mocked FBS we magically got an invite. It had a lot more to do with our administration not wanting an invite than a conference not being interested.

And anyone can look at photos of the two respective stadiums each week and tell that your attendance numbers are a joke. When you can't even get free ticket give aways to help your attendance, you have a problem.
