Rank the SBC fan bases from 1-9 (I say 9 because you can't rank your own fan base) based strictly on the fans you find most enjoyable / amiable.

This is not a ranking for who you think has the fan base that supports their team the best.

Think of it as a ranking for the fan bases you would most desire to share a proverbial beer with down to the fan base you'd like to never hear from again.

Here is mine as a Coastal fan from what I've experienced so far. Best to worst:

1. Georgia State
2. Texas State
3. South Alabama
4. Louisiana
5. App State
6. ULM
7. Ark State
8. Georgia Southern
9. Troy

I will say this. By far Texas fans are the worst group of fans I've ever dealt with. There is not a soul in this league who can hold a candle to those guys.

I will say, I have met some really, really great people from Troy.
I have been treated like absolute dog s*** by GS fans during my time in the GSU band.

But NOBODY will ever be as bad as ULL, Bob Marlin, and his wife. Period point blank. GS is supposed to be our rivals but my trips down to Paulson have been enjoyable and I have been treated well by the more reasonable fans. GS fans in Atlanta are an entirely different story, unfortunately.

Haven’t had many interactions. But the amount of trash Southern fans talked online leading up to our game last year was interesting. I recall their basketball team getting a little chippy with us the first time we played them as well. And also their baseball team when asked about CCU in a preseason interview was saying they thought they were the team to beat in the conference in 2017, following our Natty.

I will say though, GS fans were pretty humble in defeat and behaved fine at the game. It seems like their fans really want a rivalry with us.



There is no worse fan base I have ever experienced than the Citadel. They have almost no consistent supporters, but on the rare occasion they have a reason to celebrate, they are the most elitist, confrontational a-wipes I’ve ever seen. We about had multiple fights when we hosted them in 2015.

One southern fan ranked GaST last in this thread. I ranked them 5th.

'Twas meant more as a prediction of what most posters will probably do. I'll go back and edit it to make it more clear.

ULL fans are completely delusional and sometimes seem to look down their noses at this conference unearned. I will still vote them #1. Their fans won me over at the Sun Belt tournament in Statesboro and they have a passion on Ragin Pagin that I can't not like .

Troy is #2. Like the posters on this board, and fans were great when I went there in 2015.

Ark State would be #3. Knowledgeable and passionate.

The rest I'm not going to rank, though I'm not saying they're bad or anything.

Judging a fanbase off of your interaction with five to ten people on the Internet makes perfect sense in 2018. Get out and meet some people. You will find that 98% of the people you encounter are cool people to hangout with before the games.
