I won't rank APP since that's my homer vote.

1. Texas State (since they have the best looking fans and are always friendly cause they usually don't beat anyone on the field)

2. ULL (Good Cajun food)

3. Coastal (Close enough to have a lot in common, but humble cause they usually don't beat us)

4. ULM (They did beat us last year but again good Cajun food)

5. Georgia State (I have met a few, they seem nice, building a program that will soon be good)

6. USA ( nothing against them, just haven't met many, would like to meet more though)

7. Troy (both fan bases respect each other, either could beat the other one from year to year)

8. Ark State (turning into a big rival, lots of chest thumping lol)

9. Georgia Southern (Bitter rival to us, can be hospitable but also can be impossible to be around) I am sure they feel they same way towards us.

I have been treated like absolute dog s*** by GS fans during my time in the GSU band.

But NOBODY will ever be as bad as ULL, Bob Marlin, and his wife. Period point blank. GS is supposed to be our rivals but my trips down to Paulson have been enjoyable and I have been treated well by the more reasonable fans. GS fans in Atlanta are an entirely different story, unfortunately.

I think if hate of the Saints and the city of New Orleans was not enough Louisiana has cemented my hate for everything from that state.

The only time I hate ULL is during baseball season.

They just don't seem to understand that there is a new sheriff in town.

To be honest, I'd put Southern fans #1. I mean, over the past 15 years, I've really really enjoyed seeing Southern fans after our games except for 3 ... :)

I think generally every fan base for the most part is great. You get drunken ******** at every game you go to.

I know at my tailgate the last few years, I've had USA, app, ga state, and troy people there, and nobody ever had any issues.

I'm noticing a certain...pattern to this hierarchy and to some others here.

Let me put it this way: A fan base is either mellow and lame or it's passionate and annoying. I've come to the conclusion that it's impossible to have the best of both worlds and anyone who says otherwise is inexperienced.

If you sustain any kind of winning and your fans aren't viewed as kind of uppity and obnoxious, your fan base has no pulse. You're basically Wofford or Furman and their small, wine-and-cheese fan base. Troy fans certainly aren't any exception after Neal Brown got the Hoplites winning again and the basketball championship and the baseball NCAA bid. I like Troy fans here better after they started winning again but some here don't.

I think it's a breath of fresh air to have actual multiple teams in the conference that expect to beat you and out-compete you for the conference championship. In the SoCon we could have multiple consecutive down years and still be the Super Bowl of every team other than App State (who is still going to look forward to playing you when you're down). I read the GS-Ark State thread and thank the realignment gods we're not still in the FCS wasteland.

2. Arkansas State (lots of characters in this group)
3. South Alabama (lots of good and rivalry like interactions with these guys)
Meh. Georgia State, Texas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana, Coastal Carolina
5. Georgia Southern (not a lot of positives here)

Never been to Texas State, ULM or ULL (plan to rectify the first two this year), so here is my ranking of the other six:
