Kent State vs. Mississippi Valley State
The Flashes welcome the Devils from Mississippi Valley State on Sunday. Tip off from the MAC Center is set for 3PM. MVS enters the game without a win. In fact, the Devils' closest contest was a 30 point setback to BYU and their worst loss came at the hands of Utah, who beat them by an even 40. Ohh the anticipation.
Instead of spending time looking up and analyzing the numbers on these guys, lets focus on Kent State. I am looking forward to seeing how Adonis De La Rosa performs over the next few weeks. With better competition on the horizon I am hopeful that he can not only offer minutes, but (at the very least) be a threat to score the ball and keep opposing defenses honest.
It would also be great to see Avery remain turnover free. So far he has 7 assists against 0 turnovers in about 50 minutes on the court. Depth in the back-court is something that this year's group seems to have. Lets see if it can translate into W's as the competition steps up.
Oh yeah,
Kent State 90
MVS 67

I just looked at MVSU's schedule and they have zero home non conference games this year. In fact, they have only played 1 home non conference game in 4 years. That makes our football scheduling look amazing.

Enjoyed watching this team. The improvement in the play under the basket was impressive. Duling can be a very good player. He also has a bit of an attitude has been missing for a few years. De la Rosa is much improved and both Pippen and Frederick had their moments. It could be a very interesting year.

I love Walker's aggression but I'd like to see him be a little smarter when going to the rim. At times it borders on wreckless. He took a scary spill late in the game that could've been worse than it was. We need him to stay healthy.

Opportunity was there to lay an egg... odd Sunday start time, team you beat by 30 last year and was 0-3 already, etc.
They did enough to get the W. Good to see AD perfect at the line. Teams (especially in the MAC) may foul him a lot. He must prove he can make them consistently.
Love the depth. Sendy will have a good "problem" come rotation-shortening time.

I just hope that we don’t go through the December “why did he go from 17 minutes a game to three straights DNPs?”

Yeah the free throw shooting by AD was impressive and encouraging. Seems like he's put in a ton of work in the off season. Any time you get a combination of that size with hard work you have something.
Duling was really impressive today. Seems to be getting comfortable. He needs to work on his jump shooting and free throw shooting though.
Avery is playing really well. 10 more assists today, still no turnovers for the season.

After Sunday's game, MVSU is up to 349 out of 351. By the way, YSU is in there at 301 and SE Louisiana is down at 291. Pretty soft schedule to start out with.
Valparaiso and Loyola will be the first challenges, at 82 and 105. Of course this is early so Sagarin ratings aren't too reliable. Kent State is at 117
