RE: Where's the Charlotte game thread?
App fan here. A lot of App people **** on Charlotte. I'm not one of them. But I am curious. How's the fanbase doing right now? Among the true CLT fans, is it "FIRELAMBERT" mode? Or are the boosters still staying calm and believing long term that the program will build out into a contender. Again, want to stress this, not looking to **** on the program, just trying to get a beat on it.
Actually, I'll add this. As a casual observer that lived through the App State FCS days, I wish UNCC would have stayed FCS for at least a decade. Not only do I think UNCC would have competed in FCS, I think they could have contended and won some nattys.
Imagine hosting FCS playoff games against NDSU, JMU and Eastern Washington. Imagine building a loyal fanbase, off of big time wins, and seeing winning seasons early on. Then when you actually did move up, you brought a foundation of success and tradition with you.
Charlotte has very few fans on here, but they are as loyal as hell. I'd argue the most dedicated fans in CUSA. Again, not trying to **** on you guys, I'd be curious to know your thoughts. Would you have preferred to stay FCS longer and build a foundation of success?

Women's basketball coach, but the rest is correct.

FireLambert mode is where I would say the pulse is. The problem is that the AD will probably not do it, and even if she did we couldn't trust her next hire. Our athletics is a dumpster fire right now with a couple of exceptions.

Coach Lambert wouldn't win squat at any level of football. We were a charter member of CUSA and we want to compete with the caliber of institutions that have been a part of CUSA. We should have started football 25 years ago but lacked competent leadership that had any vision.

Why is Charlotte here? No disrespect intended but, Charlotte is a basketball school --a very good basketball school-- but not a football school.

cause they were a founding member of CUSA. cause UNCC has a history with members that predate CUSA and those members wanted them in CUSA. UAB, WKU, ODU, and UNCC were all members of the Sunbelt together and had good relationships along with some damn good basketball games. cause UNCC has more potential than a lot of other candidates and potential does matter.

Same crap I heard when Buffalo was accepted into the MAC in 1999. The big cry was "UB is a sleeping giant". Well they are still sleeping. In 18 years Buffalo has exactly 2 winning seasons, 2008 8-6 and 2013 8-5. With a IA record of 78-245.
Ive always said if a team is going to start a program or restart a program they should have to spend 10 years at IAA at least. Also Ive always thought their should be more stringent rules on moving up beside "I think I wanna go IA".

That's a great point. Most newbie schools schedule lower level schools anyway. CUSA needs to get out of the "raising programs" business, and become more of a serious football conference.

Great point from a supporter of a team that lost to us in our second season of conference play.
As for our fan base most would agree that Lambert needs to go and at the very least we should have a new offensive coordinator introduced to the team first thing Monday morning. However Judy Rose is more concerned with the college experience our athletes have than the product we put on the field. Until she is gone winning in any sport is an afterthought. I am embarrassed by the lack of preparation our coaching staff showed in yesterday's game and feel sorry for the other conference teams that will be forced to watch us play this season. On the plus side we will do our best to help you secure bowl eligibility.

See bolded part above. You're apparently suffering from the " female affect" on your athletics. Just a fact.

So much football talent in the city of Charlotte, their football program isn't even a decade old yet, give them time. They have plenty of large companies HQ'd in Charlotte to get financial backing and their enrollment is nearing the largest school in the UNC system. They may only be a new head coach away from a breakthrough season.

Our two schools and ecu should do a round robin to determine who is the worst program in fbs this year.
