Amnesty Don?
Far-right news outlet Breitbart News ran with the headline, “Amnesty Don.”

“President Trump signaled a full-fledged cave on the issue of giving amnesty to nearly 800,000 illegal aliens currently protected by an Obama-created executive immigration program,” Breitbart reporter John Binder wrote.

Fox News host and Trump ally Sean Hannity, who blamed Republican leaders, said that “it’s over” for the president if he abandons his hardline immigration stance.

Linky

This could possibly save the republican party.

RE: Amnesty Don?
In general, most Americans, even those who voted for Trump, are not concerned about Americanized kids who were brought here through no fault of their own. In fact many of those conservative voters wanted Elian Gonzalez to remain here.

What they do care about is that "Dreamers" with MS13 neck tattoos be treated differently than your average young person in this dilemma. Democrats seem to be able to see no difference. Breitbart may have the same disease.

If Trump reaches a deal that lets "Elian Gonzalez" stay but puts Jose the gang assassin on a plane out...he will have betrayed nobody.

We will see how this turns out. But nothing is clear yet on whether an acceptable deal is reached.

I just don't understand. Why is this so hard?

If you are here illegally you should be deported back to your home country where you can stand in line at the US embassy or consulate to apply for a visa to visit, live, or work in the United States of America.

Just like everyone else has to.

It's hard because unlike some in this country, most people have compassion for children who were brought here through no fault of their own.

Then those countries of which the child is a citizen should show compassion for their citizens and make sure that there are facilities and support services to allow their citizen to apply for a US visa.

Problem solved. I would be a great bureaucrat!

Right on the money. We can figure something out for the kid that's now 18, clean record (generally speaking), and just going about his everyday life.

If you are, instead, a criminal, threat to others (multiple duis for instance) or not contributing in some meaningful way. Out you go!
Buh, bye.

Those children are in many cases adults who want to live here and contribute to this country.

Why should we deport these people who are more American than many who were born here?

Because of some law?

Easiest way to lose my vote is to push amnesty. Zero tolerance for rewarding criminal behavior.

We've seen in the past that you can't make deals with the leftists on this because they never live up to their side of the deal so to even try is idiotic.

Yes.

Because they are in this country illegally.

Yes. The law that says you must legally immigrate to this county.

Prove it, you can't. I dated a Colombian chic, on DACA, who came to the USA on a tourist visa. She just never went back. Lots of people on DACA came as teenagers and adults.

It's a damn shame how some people care more for laws in this country than they do for living, breathing, people who just want a piece of the American dream.

No laws, no borders, no country. People who want to live here need to come legally.

Well, when I hear "amnesty" I'm thinking the entirety of the 15-20 million that are here illegally. Visa overstays, fence jumpers all of them.

This isn't that, it's a relatively small percentage of that.

Though I will say again what I've said for years now.

Much like what LS said above- wanna get right with the law and the American people?

Go home, get your stuff in order, apply for re-entry and we have some expedited "express lane" where we can check record, confirm identity and address. Work or school status etc., then they can come back on a temp basis until they are granted the next status.
Whatever that would be.

They are more than welcome to a piece of the American dream. They just have to follow the legal process to come here.
