Now if we can only solve the football puzzle . . .

. . always a pleasure playin' you guys . . We just signed our best VB recruiting class in school history, so the next few years should be interesting . .

We didn't have a big signing class as we only had three seniors and only one of those was in our top five scorers. We played a lot of true freshmen this year so we may be able to reload a little bit for the first time in years.

Looking past the conference tournament for a sec . .

If we end up in Austin . . again, which seems likely, you think this team can finally get past the horns?

Considering you have to win the tournament to make the NCAA's, kind of really looking ahead here aren't you?

Just a hypothetical . . . when we have made the tournament (in the recent past) it's typically Ben to Austin where the horns kinda ended things . . . just wanted CatMom's thoughts as to how she thought we might do against the horns this year should we get that far . . .

Not assuming anything, just a hypothetical question . .

NCAA has a rule that dictates that the only way a school can bus for a regional is if they get sent less than 400 miles from their own campus. The key to get a close site, is to have a bunch of different options nearby, and to not have them filled with teams you've already played. But be careful, once the NCAA decides to fly you, you can go wherever the hell they want.

When we went a couple years ago, it worked out that there were 2 host sites within 400 miles of Jonesboro, but both included teams we had already played that year. To avoid rematches, the NCAA decided to fly us. We ended up in freaking Seattle

I believe our softball team avoided that the past 2 season but we still ended up with UT in the A&M regional this year. After sweeping UT in the regular season they lost to them in the tourney; where it really counted.

We'd get shipped to Austin, no doubt. The only way to hit a win is if we were to be seeded better than 8th because UT would be the 1 seed. They're currently #3 in the poll and #12 in RPI. When we were SLC and even if we won the tourney we still got stuck as the 8th seed.

While the gals have made tremendous strides we're still, unfortunately, not elite. Granted, the chances that they might make it through to a championship match in some other Regional are better, they'd hit a wall when they got to a top seed.

You realize Volleyball doesn't seed outside of the Top 16 teams anymore...right?

Top 16 teams are seeded and host 4 team "pods" for the first 2 rounds. Winners of each "pod" advance to traditional regional semifinals and finals at neutral sites. Sort of like Women's Basketball now.

I'm not sure where you got the idea of 8th seed from, but Volleyball doesn't work that way.

My reply is from ancient times if you actually read it. I also know there are only 4 seeds at each venue. I was making a point that you missed because you tend to scrutinize every post a TXST fan makes for the most nit picky things.
I didn't realize that TT changed names.

Yes, TT, currently they seed the 4 teams within each "pod", along with the top 16.

CM, I've read your post 4 times and still can't figure out how you insinuated you recognized the format change,.

By the way, Volleyball Bracket is now official with times:

One Change: Apparently the conference for some odd reason seeds you by conference record, but accepts the top 4 teams in each division regardless of conference record. Because of that, Troy, which finished a full game behind Little Rock in the standings, takes the 8 seed at 4-12 overall

Thursday's Games: (All games on ESPN3)

#7 Appalachian State at #6 Texas Arlington 5:00pm CT
#8 Troy vs #5 South Alabama 7:30pm CT

Friday's Games:

#App/UTA winner vs #3 Louisiana 5:00pm CT
#Troy/USA winner vs #4 Arkansas State 7:30pm CT

Saturday's Games:

App/UTSA/UL vs #2 Texas State 5:00pm CT
Troy/USA/AState vs #1 Coastal Carolina 7:30pm CT

Sunday's Game

Championship Match: 1:00pm CT (ESPN3)

Man, we had a great position there. 1 set all, up 23-21 in the 3rd set. Lost the next 4 points to lose the Set, and fell behind late 4th set, and that's it.

Coastal and Texas State give us so many problems.
