No disrespect from this guy. He seems to be well aware of the strengths of this years version of the Broncos and does a nice job describing them.He shows respect to the head coach and offensive coordinator.

“I have been very impressed with Western Michigan’s personnel,” Helton said. “One, watching them play from last year and the confidence that they bring to the table. It’s hard to win 12 games in a row and you see what they did and how they accomplished that. It takes good players.”
You mean 13, right?
I read that the same way initially too... I think he was specifically noting that it's hard to win out your regular season... Either way... I don't think we will be catching USC sleeping.

Got to get some clock on offense to have a shot in this one. SC with a green offensive line and receivers could struggle offensively.

I expect the amount of research they did was looking at USC's schedule, seeing the name "Western Michigan", and penciling in a win.
To put in such little effort is disrespectful, quite frankly.

Agreed.
Heard radio personality "Mad Dog DeMarco" this morning discussing Michigan State's schedule.
He said, MSU should have no problem with either Bowling Green or Western Michigan before facing Notre Dame.
Welcome to dealing with P5 arrogance. And DeMarco is a CMU grad!

I've got one better. Justin Rose from Ch7 WXYZ detroit this morning. 'MSU has 2 cupcake type games before facing ND'. I took exception on twitter. He thinks "MSU will be much improved (based on what, nobody ever says), but it wont be a blow out." My response was "so by cupcake you meant a close game?" Then He replies with "doesn't think it'll be close MSU 28 WMU 10." Consider the source an MSU grad, whatever. They all say 6, 7, 8 or 9 wins but I don't see it. Everyone says state will be better but give no substantive analysis besides coaching. Same coaches that couldn't get them to win 4 games PRIOR to losing most of 2016 class. ND was just as bad last season but brings in a #10 class compared to MSUs #36. IF they make it thru non-conf 3-0 they run a gauntlet of division games, Penn st, OSU, UofM. 50/50 vs Iowa, Minn, NU, MD. Probables IU & Rutgers.
I'll be sure to get back to him after we come out of EL with a W

The team partied at a billionaire's mansion, rubbing elbows with celebrities.
Hopefully they're focused on one of the top teams in that nation today and tomorrow.

This game has a bit of a bowl game feel to it, with the added hoopla at Gores mansion. Maybe that's an effort to make these guys realize Western can be and IS big time. They are suitable competition to play in the Coliseum. I doubt any of that created an added distraction. Might even contribute towards player retention and the recruiting message of the notoriety of our program

Okay, hate me. The NIU game went until -- well, late. Here's the stuff:
http://www.latimes.com/sports/usc/la-sp-...story.html
Quote:USC’s front seven vs. Western Michigan’s running game: The defensive front has the potential to be USC’s best in years. It will receive an immediate test because Western Michigan’s running game, USC coach Clay Helton said, is among the best the Trojans will see this year.

Quote:USC Injury Report:
Out for season: LB Tayler Katoa (knee), CB Jonathan Lockett (hip), S Isaiah Pola-Mao (shoulder)
Out: LB Matt Bayle (undisclosed), OLB Hunter Echols (hip), DL Liam Jimmons (ankle), OT Nathan Smith (knee), OL Alijah Vera-Tucker (hamstring)
Doubtful: WR Michael Pittman (ankle), WR Keyshawn “Pie” Young (hamstring)
Questionable: CB Isaiah Langley (quad)
Probable: TE Daniel Imatorbhebhe (hip), WR Joseph Lewis (finger), Viane Talamaivao (ankle)
Suspended: LB Cameron Smith (1st half)
Western Michigan Injury Report:
Out for the season: N/A
Out: N/A
Questionable: DL Steven Clark (eligibility)
Probable: N/A
Despite the diagnosis, Clark received second and third-opinions from other medical professionals declaring it safe for him to play. The Broncos hope the NCAA will award Clark a waiver to play immediately because he was barred from playing at Syracuse, but they still await a decision.
They still don't know. "What Scotty don't know." :)
"USC wary of overlooking Western Michigan in Saturday’s season opener."
http://www.ocregister.com/2017/09/01/usc...on-opener/
Quote:Western Michigan returns a majority of its starters on defense after it allowed 19.8 points per game (15th in FBS) and 353.6 yards per game (26th in FBS) last season.
Among those is cornerback Darius Phillips, an “NFL prospect,” according to Helton.
“There’s no question in my mind,” Helton added. “He’s kind of that team’s Adoree’ Jackson. He kind of does everything.”
Game Preview: USC vs. Western Michigan
https://www.conquestchronicles.com/2017/...n-football
Quote:USC wins 45-20
Still doesn't beat the spread.
Man, I can't sleep.
