LOL. Tyler Harris just said the other day that we werent recruiting him very hard. Since then though I know a couple assistants watched him at UA tourney last week.

But seriously. He aint coming to Memphis.

Well he might come to Memphis .. but he could be wearing a Wichita State uniform when he's there :)

Kansas and UVA just offered. He aint going to WSU.

Correction: KU hasnt offered. Only is interested. Still think he ends up at Memphis or Iowa State or Ole Miss.

And I'm pretty sure that's in order of preference because it's not alphabetical.

Harris isn't likely coming to Memphis. We are recruiting Alex Lomax first (same position), and Harris will perhaps decide before Lomax, so I don't see us getting Harris.

Unlike most of our previous history, everyone is coming to Memphis and recruiting Memphis area players hard. As one coach said "the Memphis barn door is wide open." Uncle Tubby ain't all that high on recruiting.

Yep, our top recruit last year was William Douglas from Memphis Christian Brothers, #2 ranked player in Tennessee. I heard Tubby recruited him pretty hard. Pooh Williamson was the lead recruiter and he took an official there.

His good friend and teammate Rodgerick Brown committed to WSU and is heavily recruiting Harris to join him per Brown's father...

I'll give you the short, short version.

People talk basketball.
Other people think talking basketball in July is stupid so instead of starting a football thread they berate people for talking basketball.
People talk soccer.

There's a better chance he chooses WSU than Memphis.

EDIT: Did you not say a few posts earlier that he ain't coming to Memphis? I'm confused.

I said he is probably not coming to Memphis. 15% chance is still a probably not but still inside the top 3.

Tulsa shows up at #97. Only other team that has showed up was Memphis at #119. Most think that ECU, USF, and Tulane aren't in the Top #144 poll.

http://www.collegesportsmadness.com/mens...4-previews

A fairly general prediction, but Moody Magic had them gauged pretty well.

If we end up with 8 out of 12 teams in the top 100, that's pretty solid. Coincidentally, that's where I hope we end up with RPI rankings at the end of the year. If we do, then we should be able to put 4-5 teams in the tournament with good seeding.

Tulsa will not be number 97 in the country this year. I expect them to be much improved. Henderson will continue to be the backup point and probably sixth man in the rotation. I expect Curran Scott to be the starting 2 guard. I will be disappointed if TU has an RPI greater than 70 and if the team comes together as they should I think they will be top 50.

Alex Lomax was our #1 target, and we mostly ignored Tyler Harris. But now it's looking like we might lose Lomax to Florida, so we have turned much more attention to Harris. Is it too late? Only time will tell.

Cal, for the most part, didnt even recruit them. But he got national kids. He did go get Shawne Williams and Willie Kemp as big recruits from Memphis but that was about it. Andre Allen was sort of a walk on.

Pastner got most of the memphis kids he went after although he got fewer towards the end.

I like Tubby, but I just don't get why he seems so disinterested in such a traditional, successful hotbed.

Houston shows up at #74. That would put them according to this one poll (we know this is only one snapshot of what some in the public is saying about the American Conference teams) at seventh in the conference. Does this mean that the Top seven teams in the conference will go to either the NCAA or the NIT? Other teams were Tulsa at #97 (8th in the Conference and Memphis at 9), Memphis at #119, and ECU, USF, and Tulane left out (this is all of course, based on assumptions).

Teams left are UCONN, Temple, UCONN, SMU, WSU, and UC so Seven ACC teams in the Top 75. This would help our RPI's, and other stronger metrics.

About where we have been as a conference, what we need is memphis/tu in top 75 and 6 in the top 50. This conference should have 9 in the top 75 and never more than 2 outside the top 125. Anyone over 150 will hurt any one on the edge and can turn 5 teams into 3 pretty quick.
