Caitlyn Jenner Considering GOP bid for U.S. Senate in California
A transgender GOP Senator from Californication would absolutely be a flash point for the left. My gosh, the liberal outrage, sense of betrayal and weeping and gnashing of teeth is one for the ages.
Quote:
Caitlyn Jenner, the Olympic gold medalist, reality show star and transgender activist, is weighing a run for the U.S. Senate representing California.
“I have considered it. I like the political side of it,” Jenner said in a radio interview with New York’s AM 970 that aired Sunday, adding that she planned to make a decision within the next six months or so.
“I gotta find out where I can do a better job,” she said. “Can I do a better job from the outside, kind of working the perimeter of the political scene, being open to talk to anybody? Or are you better off from the inside, and we are in the process of determining that.”
Jenner has been in the spotlight for decades – first as Bruce, an Olympic athlete and the long-suffering husband and father in the Kardashian reality television empire, and then as the activist who transitioned to Caitlyn in 2015, becoming one of the most famous transgender voices in the world.
The Malibu resident is a lifelong Republican. The next opportunity to run for Senate will be in 2018, when Democrat Dianne Feinstein is up for reelection. Feinstein, 84, has not yet said if she will run again. No prominent Republican candidate has publicly announced interest in the seat.
Jenner, 67, is a supporter of President Trump, which would likely be an issue in a state the president lost by more than 4 million votes. But Jenner has clashed with Trump over transgender bathroom policy, and has been working to make the Republican Party more inclusive to the LGBTQ community.
In the interview, she said she had plans to meet with Nikki Haley, the United States’ ambassador to the United Nations, to discuss the international ramifications for being involved with the LGBTQ community.
“I hope to change the perception of the Republican Party and make it the party of equality,” she said, adding that she believes the GOP would be unstoppable if it kept its small-government, fiscally conservative values while being more accepting of people who have not traditionally been part of the party.
The California Republican Party has a history of electing celebrities, notably President and former Gov. Ronald Reagan, former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Palm Springs Mayor and congressman Sonny Bono and former Carmel Mayor Clint Eastwood.
If Jenner runs, she will not be the only famous Republican on the ballot – soap actor and underwear model Antonio Sabato Jr. is running to represent the southern central coast and most of Ventura County in Congress, and singer Kid Rock is toying with running for a Senate seat representing Michigan.

I still say he isn't. She just bought what she has now. If he's gonna run against Feinstein I don't know how much of an improvement he would be to Feinstein, after all, I consider Feinstein pretty much a moderate. If you don't think so just compare her to someone like Pelosi.

She isn't going to be elected to anything in California. First of all, she's a Republican. Secondly, she's been too close to Trump.

Certainly not surprised by your response. A lot of folks on the left didn't think Donald Trump was going to beat Hillary either.

Disgusting. About the only scenario where I would vote for Barbara Boxer or Dianne Feinstein.

Well Boxer is retired (Kamala Harris is now the junior senator from California). Personally I hope Feinstein retires too and doesn't run for re-election. But her health doesn't seem awful - she certainly seems more coherent than Boxer or Pelosi (both of whom are 6 years younger than Feinstein).
Jenner has no chance of beating Feinstein (or someone like a Garcetti or Newsom if Feinstein doesn't run). I wouldn't say a Republican has zero chance but it would have to be someone popular - like an Elon Musk or maybe some other Silicon Valley type.

You know that once you get away from the coast there are conservative Californians, right? Probably more than you might imagine. Now, would conservatives vote for a he/she/it gender confused (insert appropriate gender pronoun here)? Who knows...

I agree. No sure thing but consider that both Boxer and Feinstein were/are female Senators (I know DEMS) since the early 90's and now Kamala Harris is another DEM female in office. Caitlyn is definitely articulate, has strong television and media experience and is a sympathetic figure in many circles. You wonder if the former Bruce in her still has some appeal. This is also the same state that elected Ar-NOLLLd. Who knows but it's interesting to say the least...

You could even flip it the other way. Would some left leaning or those sympathetic to transgender issues vote simply for the "historical" value or a chance to influence the POTUS? We know history also played a role in the first election of Oballah.

So was this the plan all along? Bruce knew he had no chance as a man to be a Senator so he decided to get a sex change in order to win. He's a mastermind I tell you.

California is different than the rest of the nation. No way a republican gets in the Senate out of CA not matter their celebrity status. Arnold was a very left leaning Republican when he ran for Governor in a special election.
