Before everyone inevitably crowns ECU the victor, understand that ECU is 55-34 at home since 2002. In that same time frame, UCF is 56-35... including our two winless seasons.
Homefield advantage isn't about how many people you can squeeze into a stadium, it's also about winning percentage vs. Away.

wow, a whole one game difference. impressive.
that said, the home field advantage should be easy enough to prove. who has won the highest % of their home AAC games? that's all that really matters. probably Houston.

I bring up, for all the crap that ECU thinks they dish at us for our winless seasons, we still have a better winning percentage, even if by only one win.

I try not to dish any crap unless you're a consistently horrible UConn or Tulane. Everyone gets a bad season here and there.
As far as home field advantage goes, a better indication would probably be the difference between home and away wins in a season. Just being good or bad doesn't really reflect how the venue plays in.
For example, if a team only wins 4 games, and 3 are at home, that says more about how much better they play at home.

Well some of that may be due to being good within a certain time frame. I think taking wins vs losses over a period like 10 years would give a decent indicator factoring in program ups and downs.

Still think it will just end up looking like the regular standings if you don't factor in the disparity between home wins and away wins, instead of just total home wins.

You are correct. I wanted to do that, but I'm sneaking by at csnbbs at work as it is.
I have a shiny +1 for you if you manage to do that. +3 if for the whole conference :D

I'll put it together if I get a minute. Meetings till 2:30, so someone might beat me to it.
Should be pretty easy. home wins / total wins = home win %. Not sure how many years we want to carry it back (i.e. whether we're including OldBE and CUSA stats).

For sure, it's just the data entry legwork that will take the most time.
I usually just go to ESPN. They have records to 2002.

You have a tin can stadium that you can't fill. There is no atmosphere there...just a bunch of "fans" checking the FLA or FL State scores on their phones.
If Houston can carry the momentum, they have a great home field advantage. Great crowd. Same for Cinn.

Fine, and I've been on record calling out other ECU fans for acting like retards over this stupid crap.

lol, we haven't been filling our stadium lately either.

Serious question: To those who call our stadium a tin can... has anyone actually been to it?

2002-2004 just happened to be our worst stretch in program history so that's an interesting time to start looking at this. Also, ECU plays the toughest non-conference schedule year in and year out of any program in this league so that also thwarts this stat. Finally, when DFS is packed with rowdy Pirate fans (particularly against NCSU, UNC, VT WVU, etc) then it is one of the most difficult places to play and one of the best atmospheres in all of CFB bar none.

I mentioned before, that's as far back as ESPN records win/loss. I don't care to put more effort into it than that.

You don't get to brag about toughest non-con schedule AND use it as an excuse for not winning.

Are you seriously implying that a crowd of 45k-50k people will beat out Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, Penn State, Oregon, et al. at their peak capacity? Also, can you make that claim without experiencing any other high intensity games from within the conference? What about Cincinnati's unique stadium structure? Army-Navy game? UCF's (formerly) BHNS is one giant noisemaker. The steel structure amplifies and reverberates noise, as well as being a noise generator itself. ECU has a great crowd, atmosphere, and stadium, but when you claim that there is no competition in CFB, let alone in your own conference, you wonder why ECU fans are the butt of so many jokes on this board.
