"The people that mattered, which are the people that I trust - that I believe in, people that I know believe in me - they were excited for me. My family, my staff, Bob Huggins, Andy Kennedy, Anthony Grant ... they were all extremely excited for me and very positive. And the people from South Carolina that convinced me to take the job - they sold me on who they were and convinced me that they fully believed that I was the person to help rebuild this basketball program, and that's what I listened to. ... I went with what I trusted and I'm glad I did."

Thanks Hawk! Why we continue to S#it on former coaches is beyond me. Celebrate them all and root on the Bearcats.

5 Star - Bill Walker
#1 High School recruit in the country Michael Beasley
highly ranked guard Jacob Pullen
Highly ranked guard Denis Clemente
It would be difficult to miss the NCAA tournament with that roster. Those were his three best years. He went on a downward slope once those players exited, which is why he was fired at KSU
What he has done at South Carolina this year is very impressive. But to crown him the best of Huggins assistants is radically premature.
But it does prove my point that all that really "counts" or anyone remembers is final four or better NCAA finishes.
Martin was never fired from Kansas State
Yep - my error. I always assumed he was pushed out in the struggle with the AD and the fact that he was in the middle of a big player exodus (transferring out). He was not fired.
Jarr - you are right clemente was recruited by Huggins but committed to Martin as HC after Huggins left.
