You do get that UConn's women's BB team just won their 100th straight game and is the hottest non-FB and men's BB properties. It would be an amazing "get" for Fox and would compliment their Men's BB properties perfectly.

As an ardent supporter of women's sports if anyone could do it, it'd be UCONN. However, multiple threads on this board have pointed that conference affiliation has negatively affected attendance. Just noting the hypocrisy of such statements when confronted with how many fans actually show up to support the home team.

They would lose their chance for the G5 NY6 spot.

Dumb move.

Dumb move.

UConn lost money on its Fiesta Bowl appearance. Got made fun of for bringing so few fans. Got trounced by Oklahoma.

For UConn, the chance at a G5 NY6 spot may not be that important.

I'm not buying it.

1) Fox would need to fork out even more $$$ for mostly terrible basketball ratings.

2) Uconn football would need to go indy. How does that help them getting into a major conference?

3) $10 million buyout for what? To downgrade football and slightly upgrade BB.

I like how the title of the thread presents this as already decided. Sounds like a trial balloon by someone with an agenda.

I will believe it when I see it. If it does, whatever.

I wouldn't go way out west. Too large of a conference. I would add two urban metro schools in south. Like a UAB, or a Georgia State.

Memphis, Houston, Cincinnati, UCF, USF shouldn't trust those suburban schools. We have been burned to many times.

I agree. Stop trying to poach the West. Georgia State or Texas State would probably see an immediate impact in joining our conference in football, and they both bring decent media markets.

That's where the money is and how we get paid. ESPN isn't paying more for Georgia State.

Not enough western schools to support the Olympics. I think that Army could one day join the AAC, but right now they aren't ready.

BYU would not join as a football only member - they would join for Olympic sports only, with a quasi-affiliation for scheduling and bowls. Like Notre Dame and the ACC.

Gonzaga would also leave the WCC if it had a solid place to land.

You are correct. I meant Olympics only. I like your pod system. Play everyone in your pod in FB once, BB twice and then you can rotate the pods in FB and/or play the rest of the conference once.

I think there's something to be said to offering BYU FB-only at that point. Only adding basketball schools if the basketball portion of the TV contract is going up.

Agreed; people act like 11 bball schools is unwieldy, but if you think about it, you have a double round robin comprising of 20 conference games and the rest you make tough OOC scheduled games.
